For those of you who know Tigyo I can confirm both her and her family are all safe. I have also been told that Hauhau is also safe and well.

Funny how New Zealand has been completely forgotten. 200 people+ died in my home city of Christchurch last month from a killer quake. I was in the city centre and watched the chaos first hand. And now this in Japan, my second home..spent 5 years teaching English in Sendai.Just awful what's happening.

Hi Buggins,

New Zealand hasn't been forgotten my friend. Neither is Japan now. I've also been working in Sendai for some time. Our hearts go out to all who have been affected by these unimaginable catastrophies.

Thank you for this thread Olife.

all my wishes go out to the japanese - bad things happen to good people - and my utter admiration of their courage and integrity in this unthinkable disaster.
And to all the folks next door in NZ who have stayed strong in their recovery from their earthquake.

Good luck everybody - and thanks olife for making this thread so that all of us can give our condolences to those who have been affected by this dark beginning of the year.
