Like the title says where are the gameplay videos? I really love the Il2 series and i have all of em and i bet Cliffs of dover and future addons will be just as good or even better.

But when it comes to releasing info, proper gameplay videos etc im a very sad. I remember a few weeks ago we were told we were getting tons of videos and awsomeness so where is it then?

And i mean proper gameplay videos with sound, showing damage, menus, options etc etc

Thank you in advance

I bet we will get a few videos tomorrow for the update... If not Im sure there is a good reason to not release any. At least I hope there is a good reason

Hopefully tomorrow.

I don't understand why there's not much videos yet. Even work in progress/beta videos would be better than nothing or the 3rd person videos we've seen. Show me something with fraps!

I think it would do a lot to boost the pre-order amount for the game. Hell, the two leaked vids that hit the net a few weeks ago hyped me up enough to pre-order from ubi. something i never thought that i would do. I was originally going to wait for the steam release. I'm sure some official beta gameplay videos would do wonders for CoD's presales.

I honestly think it has to do with the leak that happened a while ago. I don't necessarily think it's a form of punishment, but was rather just discouraging to Oleg and team. I'm sure most of us have seen the leaked video, which takes all the excitement out of showing us videos for Oleg. I can only imagine how frustrated he was when that happened.

So what your saying is because of the leak they are going to punish themselves by not posting any 'in game' video that would really help sell the game. The leaked video has been the best bit of marketing to date, they should give the guy a job.

 There's only one real reason to post videos and that is to advertise and sell the game.
People who know nothing of this sim will want to see something, blimey the amount of adverts on TV showing games [some ingame footage ,some not ] Advertising these types of product are increasing.
People will self seed the product via web hosting sites ,facebook, you tube etc so advertising will be painless for them so why are they holding back.
Tree was correct, the leaked video was the best hype on here for along time,i don't agree with the way it was done it should have been done officially and had that happened the leak wouldn't have been so interesting.
Ironically by keeping things so hidden they opened themselves up.
Here's hoping for something tomorrow in the update.

I liked what I saw in the "leaked" video's and the screenshots have been impressive. Nothing else can really persuade me short of playing the damn game. Oleg's keeping it old school, the glorious days when screenshots is all you had to pre-judge a game....in magazines you had to buy, before the internet could do high rez images.

We've waited 5 years...what's 20 days.

I love IL2 and I'll love COD but this really is the crappiest attempt at marketing I've ever seen. Half the folks out there can't buy the collectors edition and those that could seem to have had their orders cancelled. People are starting to discuss where to source the map and manual contained in the product themselves. Many people are confusing the product with a ground based shoot em up. Others think it's just an add on for IL2. Some of the articles I've read don't even mention the ground breaking new features and the fact that it's a new product from the ground up. Unbelievable.

I'm only frustrated by what I see because I care about this product and want to see 1C succeed.

Well we cant just blame Ubisoft, there is a forum here for Oleg to show us some video, but so far he has chosen not to use it, he also promised SimHQ an interview but 3 weeks from release we have had nothing.

Videos will be shown when they are made with the "gold" - version, i assume.
By the way, i believe that all readers here will buy CoD, with or without official videos shown, as we are already junkies, needing our next screenshot or inside-info.

Yes, but we will need more newcomers to ensure this project continues in the future! I hope that we will get some tomorrow, also for my own pleasure, but most of all for the reason in my first sentence.

I've been training in my Spitfire made by A2A simulations in antisipation of the release. I'm really hoping to see some in game video tomorrow. That leaked video was fantastic. IMHO, they've got nothing to hide!

Well it's the only logical explanation I can think of. You know how pissed off Luthier was, as well as Oleg and the rest of the team. Sure showing us videos would have been nice (I too wonder sometimes why they didn't just drown us :)) but they wanted to surprise us all a couple of weeks b4 release. This has been Olegs baby for the past 5 years. I can only imagine how excited he was to show us the final version, but that was taken from him, thus taking all the excitement out of presenting it to us. But don't think hes just going to give up on us, or the game. This friday or the next we will see some more good footage. Hopefully in 720p this time ;)

I think the "Where are the videos?" question is pretty simple. Like everything else 1C Maddox does they aren't really happy with anything less than the most perfect possible example they can come up with. I think they are just trying to satisfy themselves with the quality of their videos before they try and appease this sometimes very harsh community with said videos.

I agree and being a programmer I've been there myself. You created it and you know all the faults, many of which aren't obvious at all to most people, BUT,
you keep saying to yourself...I'll just fix this one and then they can see it. Just one more and so on.....

It's very hard to let go when you're a perfectionist.

I think here it is the other way around.
If one knows he has the best product, i.e. ww2-air-combat-sim, there is small need for advertisement at all.
Everybody already interested in this genre knows CoD, the majority of possible customers.
Once the sim is out the game-magazines will write about it -> free advertisement, not about how it will possibly be, but how it really is.
Thats where the majority of not already addicted players will be reached.

Yes we can, they can force Oleg to stop showing off videos, it wouldn't be the first time a publisher has done this to generate a "media blowout" and hype for a game.

Don't watch video's , just get the game when it comes out. be surprised. Video just spoils it.

yep. i have the same feeling...
by the way, as you can see on this table: http://www.softclub.ru/games/releases.aspx
the release of il-2 from 1c is on "march 2011". compare it with LEGO and SHOGUN which have exact dates in 15 and 25 march!
so if we have "march 2011" we still have nothing...
sadly

So you blame a publisher for something they could do but without any proof they did?
Seems strange to me. Any hint that Ubi forced 1C to stop showing anything?

Me think a trailer is in the works. That's probably late but who nows who has what at disposal to create one and how much time it takes them.

We're a small bunch here waiting for that for sure, but I guess IL2 is not on top of the priorities for Ubi marketing, and if they got what they needed already late, hard to win back lost time (partially by choice, allocation of ressources, which here we "don't" accept, but may be understandable)

For a serious flightsim from maybe the most important era of airwar Ubi's website is a joke!
That short for release i expect to see a site like say the Silent hunter series?

No I merely stated that they could be.

But look at sh5 no word for ages and then bam few pictures just 1 or 2 months before release and in-between the images and the release virtually nothing.... Sounds familiar!!!

Marketing wise this is turning out to be an undersnowed child without a transsponder jacket.

Mouth to mouth, simmer to simmer advertisement just aint enough nowadays. Besides how do i confince someone when there is so little to show?

Common Oleg you can do better then this :)

I suspect the reason for no videos or any recent comment from the devs is that they are burning the midnight oil and stressing to get the game up to gold status. Expect it is 'all hands to the pumps' time right now.

Don't know when the final cut-off point for going gold will be, but to allow enough time for distribution, etc I expect it would have to be by end of next week at latest (?)

Personally, I feel that they have been a little too cautious in what they've shown - the 2 videos were very good. The 'perfectionism' excuse sounds right to me.

Overall though, the promotion has been poorly handled. I've been very positive about everything all the way through, but right now there are enough warning flags to cause me some misgivings and worries. I have no doubt that eventually we'll get something great. Also no doubt that I'll enjoy the game from the start, but I'm finding it harder to keep making allowances for the dropped features and unfinished elements - Oleg's admission that the Spitfire pilot might not be fixed before release was what pushed me over the edge a little - and lack of promotion.

Has it occurred to anyone that they might be purposefully advertising in this manner?
This way they can release it, polish it, make it proper and start the advertising after it's 99% completed and not a crap shoot.
We've all witnessed potentially great games with huge hype crash because they aren't ready for the "mob."

How long ago was it when Luthier said they were doing an English translation for a video? Two, three months?

With all the tweeking and debugging thats been going on scince I doubt anyone would be impressed with that video.

I think they've made the right decision in not releasing that video.

What I'ld like to see on all of the videos and images is a date stamp to show how old the video is.

At least it'd give some idea of how outdated they are

Cheers!

yep... at least another month longer.

As fed up as I am with no videos with sound or new videos, I do still think it will be out on the specified release date. Oleg said that date is solid. So as I have said in a previous post I think they are ahead of what we see in screens. But my bug bear is that I believe we should be being shown current development screens.

About 35 days.

I don't think they tweaked all features they were about to show in a little over a month. I don't think the videos they released yesterday were made last week.

I do agree though, that the best time to begin showing those feature videos (not all videos at once, but one every few days) was a few weeks ago. Now the release is less than three weeks away, i honestly don't care for those videos anymore, because i'll find out soon enough anyway.
