OK, here we go:

Il-2 Sturmovik series fans, take off for Scramble! Angels 20 five miles south-east of London! Observer Corps says, it's Il-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover.

Surely every fan of flight simulators knows, what series of team 1C: Maddox Games is. Oryginal Il, which stands on the market from 10 years is still in good condition and is going to have successor. It'll be meantioned CoD. However, it won't be arcade shooter like Birds/Wings of Prey, but real, realistic simulator, made with rule ,,each detail is the most important detail", but enjoyable by starting pilots, too thanks to the best training system in history of flight sim genre. In this case, player flies with instructor, which tells him what to do but(attention!) such missions are available per Internet, too, so everybody can learn flying from real people.

Team counts just 22 persons, most of them are specialists in their interests, in example there is Su-26 gear constructor or person, who made so real engine model, that each part, each piston works separately. And damage model creators made it simulation, not cosmetics only. You can, in example, make ammo explode or even flat a tire!

Interface will be better, more comfortable, in one word modern. Game's creators almost reached perfection: superenjoyability, even for newbied, perfect, almost photorealistic graphics, realistic (but customizeable by changing realism options) flight model and finally mission editor, which makes you able to create your own missions and even campaigns.

Maddox Games tells that if they didn't have contact with series' veterans, the final product wouldn't be so (can't find a word, but synonim of good, finished). team chief, Oleg Maddox and his deputy, Ilya Shevchenko (known on 1C forum under nick luthier) answer the questions and speak with fans when they [Oleg and Ilya, in polish it's better understandable] have any free time.

Impression of being the part of battle has got to be as realistic as it can thanks to the best artifact intelligence in history, which has to simulate even psychical exhaustion, fear or some special abilities, like accuracy, maneuverability or awareness.

In the topic of campaigns, we know just that we will have two of them (a british and a german one) and they will content couple of special missions (amazing, but as historic as they can be). But Il-2 Sturmovik series teaches, that after few months from release we'll have alot of fan-made missions, campaigns, maps and even new airplanes and team Maddox Games will start creating free and paid add-ons and DLCs.

We'll have practically all impotrant planes of battle of Britain , amongst others Hawker Hurricane and Supermarine Spitfire (in different variants) at british side and Messerschmitts with bombers on the other side of the Channel. And we know, that a special bonus aerobatic plane, Sukhoi Su-26 will be included.

The most important and living part (except very extended and simple to use mission editor) will be the multiplayer mode. The mode will let up to 128 players to fight online and will use (attention, ladies and gentlamen)… RADAR! Radio detection and raging system is base of singleplayer missions, too, because air controllers directed by artifical intelligence will tell us heading - sometimes wrong - to enemy by the radio, and that will incrase the feeling of being part of the battle between july and october A.D. 1940.

mmmmm? Wonder if they will give Axis radar as well to keep multiplayer at a level playing field? Derp, what was i thinking!! We have the 109 so already have the advantage, fuel injection, cannons ect, almost feel sorry for the Allied chappies, almost but not quite :)

Yeah, and don't forget about its super long range and amazing wings' G tollerance. Oh, and about field of view and super easy controlling, especially take-offs and landings.

But now serious:
I've got to know your opinions on it.

Well youve caught me in a weak moment so i'll put my serious face on;

Im all for radar in the single player campaign and lack of loiter time over the english coast ect, the more accurate the better for my game play enjoyment, but having said that i enjoy multiplayer, tbh mp is all ive really played over the last 3 years or so, warbirds, spits v 109's, UK dedicated ect though i havent had much time over the last 12 months or so because of work commitments. I think it will be hard to get the right "mix" for want of a better word for mp if reds just defend england, though hopefully it will end up in large dogfights over the middle of the channel with the bombers from both sides trying to get through. Spose if each side has equal amount of ground targets on either side of the channel it will work out fine. Hard to say till we know more about map sizes ect.
But even though there is a bit of negativity about atm I for one cant wait for release, downloaded Wings of prey yesterday to give it a go while waiting for CoD, but its gameplay is absolutley horrible, if there is anyone out there that has completed the first LW misson (eagleday i think it is) your a better man than me!

Bring on COD i say, sooner the better!

That reads very well, Alien. You hit all the most important points. You included details to excite the interest of flight-sim fans and total newbies to the genre. Good work.

The point about having lots of fan-made content in a few months... I bet we see new missions within a day or two after release.

And im sure 303 squadron will be high in content with the new missons, being one of the most successful squads of the battle. good job mate

In a previous thread Oleg did mention that the Radar was not going to have complete coverage and would not be completely accurate.

Learnig to exploit it's weekness may end up being a huge advantage for the Axis side if the RAF that relys on it too much.

Also you'll hopefully be allowed to side track a few bombers and negate the advantage in short order.

Radar will only be an advantage if the RAF players stick to team tactics and follow orders!

Cheers!
