How about a poll on what type of COD copy they would prefer IE. Download, Box or Collectors. I would think that if enough customers demanded hard copies the powers that be may accommodate them.

Ubi shop is one. I put my local game store to do it and most of times they get the orders delivered :)

Ubishop automatically redirects to local country, which seems on par for Ubi

but thanks anyway

Wow over 90% for hard copies. Why do they even have a download version. I wonder how much these company's spend on R&D and be so far off what the customers want. Such a large loyal fan base even after 5+ years of waiting.

When the Collector's Edition shows up on the shelves in North America I will get one.

Typically in the past,Gamestop,Electronics Boutique and Microcenter have had the box on release day.But so far no word.

Boxed here, downloads only anygood if game is small in size (not likely)
or you have an exceptionally fast connection.
In the UK if your not in the middle of a city forget it.

I would like a Collector's Edition, but it is seeming doubtful that it will be available in North America at all.

Failing that I want a disk in a box.

Download is the last resort and I don't want that if it can be avoided.

I will buy a collector's edition as soon a german version with 109 manual will be available. Until then a downloadable version will be good enough for me.

I'm hoping ElAurens will be sending me a Collectors Boxed Set for my birthday, if he can find one in the US ...

I'm not seeing a collectors edition in Scandinavia either. It's almost two months to go before release though so I'm staying positive that it will show up. :)

*edit* Apparently the collectors edition is now listed in Sweden. Nevermind, as you were. :D

I would like to have the option to get the Collectors edition with a free download the day it becomes available. Hate to watch everyone else play while I'm waiting for the mailman.

Copies of the Collectors Edition are available for purchase from a street stall at the Bogdanovich monthly farmers markets. Bogdanovich (Богданович)is a small town in the Urals with a population of 30,000.

Come early limited stocks.

Ive setup a poll at UBI to let them know what our buying intentions are, to try and get them to do a decent job of supporting this wonderful game with decent distribution.

Please use it truthfully!

I want the Collectors Edition.
I'll have to get Overseas Friends involved, to accomplish this.
Thus throwing the numbers off more, letting UBI think most of the sales are in the Europe.
Causing them to hold off on the release of the CE elsewhere.

Frickin number crunching pin heads, they are involved in everything.

Remember European Air War? Now that was a great box set, I still have the CD,box and the users manual that came with it. The manual had info on the game, planes, tips and tactics it also had short pilot accounts of the war that really helped to get you head into the game. A lot could be learned from the way that sim was published.

+1 Even if it does take its time to reach us over here!

I might have to pay extra for a collector's edition, even if it has to be shipped a long way.

Well I'm glad to say I've just pre-ordered the collectors edition from boostep.com for $93.20(AUD) delivered! Compare that to the official Australian UBI price of $89.95 which is for the download only version.

Boostep also points out the DVD is region B which includes Australia so I can't understand why UBI Australia are not offering it down here.

http://www.boostep.com/product_info.php?products_id=354308

I've got a sneaky feeling that the collectors edition will be offered world wide closer to release, and it might be offered cheaper, if so I wont mind.

Especially since Australia was one of the countries whose airforce was actively involved sending pilots to serve with the RAF in the battle.

The marketing whiz kids do not seem to have taken into account which countries were actually involved in the battle when trying to guess likely demand.

Not to be contrary, but I was looking at all my Il2 series boxes, ROF original boxes and thinking to myself, I wonder if I'm a combat flight sim hoarder? Will reality TV show up one day and showcase me :)

I mean these days, when I reinstall Il2 (which has seemed to happen a bit over the last few years) - I use the 1946 DVD. The orginal Il2, Aces Expansion pack and Pacific Fighters have set on a shelf collecting dust for quite a few years. Copies of Mig Alley - from the Amiga Lucas Arts Battle of Britan and Flight of the Intruder, I threw away years ago.

So I find myself wondering what's the real utility of a collectors edition? I voted a while back for it - but now that I think about it - I'm not sure what the heck I'm going to do with it. I have the orginal copy of Rise of Flight with it's "map" which I never use. I have an ingame map.

The more I think about it, the less I think I need a collectors edition. I'd probably only buy one if it included a download - and I'd only buy it out of interest in "donating to the cause".

So if you have these old sims now - what exactly do you do with them? Do you bring them out and show them of when company comes over?

I think I'll be happy with the download.

S!

Gunny

I really enjoy unpacking a new game. I love reading the user manual (after trying to play with out it). European Air War was my first and all time favorite prop combat sim.great user manual with tips tactics and short pilot accounts of the war. I got it with a logitech force joystick and man it blew me away. Just downloading a games like going to dinner and jumping to the main course or sex with no foreplay.

Personally I find owning physical copies of games to be inconvenient. I often end up losing them, and I have enough crap in my little apartment as it is without having a bunch of game boxes. I have gotten so used to steam now that I would be rather put out if a game forced me to buy a disc. Not that I mind physical copies being available for those who want them.
