View Full Version : DCS accepts any inputs for head pose, will SoW:BoB?

To avoid the need to run patches on DCS: A-10C etc, I use freetrack and PPJoy to send 6DoF head pose information to the sim, it was easy and works perfectly.
I'm really hoping the same competition and consumer-friendly method will be used in SoW:BoB, rather than the TIR only interface that we have in IL-2.
Any official comment yet?
I personally would like a direct support for freetrack without install something else like ppjoy or other software emulation. People can choose if buy TIR or DIY a head tracking.

It's not just because of the choice of TIR or DIY. There are a lot of tracking systems out there and many don't even work based on LED's (gyros for example).
So yeah, I'm all for support of any tracking technology, not just TrackIR/Freetrack. It should be a priority for any simulator to actually encourage immersiveness of the simulation - otherwise it's just a marketed/marketing toy.

Yes, head tracking input should be universal, just like joystick input.
Head pose input is the universal input and should be the one used.

Bump #2 and really like the proposition of Madfish and Letum.
Maybe SoW can be revolutionary also in the vast support of diverse 6DOF Head Tracking technology. Will be great!
