Does the BBMF count as just 1? (Battle of Britain Memorial flight, Lancaster, Spitfire, Hurricane)

I'd take i nthe following order -

Hawker Hurricane
Hawker Hurricane
Hawker Hurricane
Hawker Hurricane
Hawker Hurricane
Hawker Hurricane
Hawker Hurricane
Hawker Hurricane
Hawker Hurricane
Hawker Hurricane

HAHA, in all seriousness though id take the following, To start the days flying and to get things underway -

Red Arrows

Avro Vulcan

F14 Tomcat (always loved this plane)

P51 Mustang

B17 Flying Fortress

Panavia Tornado

De Havilland Mosquito

FW190A

HE111

Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

The final act of the display would be a victory roll by none other than the Hawker Hurricane :D

And yeah damn hard getting it to 10. I've tried to stay patriotic but sadly both the SR and apache are so out there I had to include them. Sadly though it leaves no space for the A10's, F15's, eurofighter, lynx, guppy, fw190, me109, vampire, hunter, valkyrie, e3 sentry or such wonders as the ekranoplan!!

2. F4U Corsair acrobatic demo, F4U - F/A-18E heritage pass with Blue Angel lead solo.
3. F-86 Sabre acrobatic demo
4. P-51D acrobatic demo, 2x P-51D - 2x F-86 Missing man formation.
5. Hughes H-4 Hercules low level flyby, because that’s about all she could manage.
6. Ka-50 Hokum acrobatic demo and live weapons test.
7. Sopwith Camel acrobatic demo, perhaps a low-level pass with the Ka-50.

Oh but why not, live fire all through the crowd would be much safer than the immediately preceeding Spruce Goose flyover/ crash.

Be sure to keep the canopy open on the Tempest when starting her up. Don't want the fumes to suffocate the pilot before taking off!

Really, a PAK FA doing a flyby with a Sopwith!? You do know, that even a Spitfire with a Griffon and more powerful Spits, have a hard time flying alongside a Sopwith. The pilot of the Spit has to pretty much fly on the edge of falling out of the sky! While the Sopwith pilot fly's at max throttle. I don't think that'd be a very good show for the people, when a multi-milion dollar jet falls.

I would think it viable given good pilots in each. I am fully presupposing PAK FA performance on par with an F-22. At a recent real airshow I witnessed an F-22 come to a dead stop above show center at high angle of attack with full thrust vectoring. The same F-22 made a high angle of attack pass at roughly 70 knots before doing a few cartwheels, making a quick expresso for the crowd, finishing my taxes, and running off into the heavens. Add into that equation a Sopwith pilot peddling for all he's worth, and you have a sight that would surely bring tears to my eyes.

Just to give you an idea, for the challenge, skip through to about 4:50 in the video. I'm not saying what you're thinking would be impossible, but since we don't know all that much about the PAK FA yet, and its capabilities, I'm not so sure that the PAK FA would be so capable of flying along side with a Sopwith.

Now that's funny.. I hadn't really looked at it like that before. The best actor in that film was John Boy's mole. I must have watched it almost as much as I watched Star Wars as a kid. I loved it. Then the VCR decided to eat it one morning..

Didn't they use special effects out of another film in it?

Yeah it was a favourite of mine too. I never realised until a lot later it was a remake of The Magnificent Seven with a space setting.
The special FX were reused in Space Raiders a couple of years later. It was a Roger Corman film and he was famous for streching his resources.

I believe James Cameron and Bill Paxton worked on this film set dressing and special FX and thats where they met. So Hudson fans owe this film some respect!

That's Dark Star, John Carpenters college project film. It had a beach ball alien in it which actually was part of the inspiration for Alien. The script writer Dan O'Bannon who wrote it thought it would be good to expand on the idea with a scary alien.

Ok my scifi inner geek is showing now!

For a more modern air show, I'd include these.

Fighters

MiG-15
MiG-15bis
MiG-19
MiG-21
MiG-29S (Strictly air-to-air, with very limited unguided ground attack capabilities.)
Su-17
Su-22
Su-27
Su-33 (Just an SU-27 but with folding wings and used by the Navy. Kinda like a F-14 Tomcat or something similar.)

Bombers

Tu-95M
Tu-95KD (Fitted with air-to-ground missiles for better defense, and more modern avionics, etc.)
Tu-160 "Black Jack" (Like a Soviet B1 but with better range and payload. Also more reliable in maintenance.)
Tu-119 (A varient of the Tu-95 Bear, but only reached prototype stage with seeing if a strategic bomber could last when being powered by a nuclear reactor!)
Il-28

That's pretty much it involving Soviet planes. I'd throw in some odd balls here and there, but those would be my main attractions.

My favorite planes of all-time pretty much in that order A-6 is the best I think I would have been a great A-6 pilot ... having your Co-pilot sitting side by side is a HUGE psychological advantage then to just being able to hear him one of my all-time favorite fighter plane movies is Flight of the Intruder..... flying tree- top @ night totally defensless to take out a bridge or SAM sight and then back again talking with your best friend ( i would assume since he is your co-pilot ) man what a RUSH !!!

I've been going to Chino every year, since I was a kid. I even have a little jar of money that I put away for that very occasion. I was really excited three years ago when they said they were working on a Yak-3, which would be flyable in the coming years. And this year is it! Last year they just had it static I think, and didn't have an engine in it, but this year they've got it up and ready to fly!!! That's going to be my most waited piece of the air show this year. I've never seen one actually fly before, so this'll be SO cool. :D  Man, I'm so excited!!

SEPECAT Jaguar mate ;)

BAE or BAC Jaguar is prefered. The french screwed that plane bad since dassault bought out the french half of SEPECAT (Breguet) and then prefered there own Mirage F1 over the Jag. French Jaguars were thus shit compared to the british ones which had many updates. BAC bought the sole rights to the jaguar around the late '70s. Jaguar is a British plane! ;)
