View Full Version : I have 9 Ancient Knowledge Scrolls... what do I do with them?!?!

I already killed driller, and didnt' even use the scroll on him (bleh). The other 4 bosses are alive, but based on what I read, the minor bosses like frog and spider are not worth using the scroll on?

Moro is still alive though, mwhaha. :)

I'm on impossible as a mage! Did not use elenhel (using trigger), but still managed to get 9 Ancient Scrolls so far from treasure hunting and from "old location maps."

Too bad I didn't really optimize for game speed, but I was still experimenting with the "Super Archer -- Mage Remix" build.

That said, I am level 36, on Dersu. Still need to clear Dersu, Uzala, Elon, Umkas, Sheterra, Nameless Island, Reha.

When should I start blasting the scrolls?

1 for the remaining bosses and moro?
3 for the entire continent of reha?
3 for the entire continent of nameless?
2 for sheterra?

I hate doing this calculation in reverse and lack the game experience of the other members of this board to gauge where to use these scrolls. Perhaps it is best I use it on sheterra, then save at least 2 scrolls for the bosses and reha?

Thanks in advance!

Argh, sorry, found the other thread which has all the answers. How do I delete this thread. :(

Or to make this thread a little different. Is it worth "saving heroes" on certain maps for Ancient Knowledge? Does experience level count more towards a final score than loss of travel time?

Too bad I'm swamped with work right now (probably till end May) to finish my game, else I could give you exact enemies to take out, and which sequence to chain fight them. Given the current situation, I could only give the advise below.

Actually, I found very little empirical info here with regards to when to use the AK scrolls. I could give you more definitive advise as I continue my existing high-score run. Basically, you should start using them at Montero/Verona; the following is a list of battles and the XP tied up to them (note that I have +50%XP to begin with from items and skills for all the battles listed below, so battles with AK on adds +50%XP on top of this, effectively doubling the base XP):

MONTERO:
Xerxes - 6,042 (no AK on)
Hungry Beast - 5,448 (no AK on)
Hagni - 11,004 (AK on)
Thomas Torkve - 8,498 (AK on)
Crazy Miner - 8,661 (AK on)
Iron Fist - 9,521 (AK on)
Fangol - 15,649 (AK on)
boss Driller - 20,701 (AK on)
Necromancer Mesmer - 7,215 (AK on)

VERONA:
Arnold Heningem - 18,771 (AK on)
Marquis of Krause - 8,902 (AK on)
Demenion - 24,891 (AK on)

DERSU:
Hogan - 5,495 (no AK on)
boss Spider - ???
boss Frog ???

UZALA:
Koruskan - 10,667 (AK on)
Elenhel (when he rebels) - 15,315 (AK on)
Urh-Urh - 10,043 (AK on)
Rakush - 13,237 (AK on)
Weed - 11,425 (AK on)
Captain Krueger - 9,828 (AK on)

ELON:
Great Uchkuk - 20,425 (AK on)
Shenobi - 28,658 (AK on)
Rakatarh - 11,209 (AK on)
Kotor - 11,034 (AK on)
Shiva - 11,537 (AK on)
boss Zilgadis - 33,121 (AK on)
Uldara - 14,306 (AK on)
Moro Dark - 22,886 (AK on)
Professor Dambior - 13,156 (AK on)

NAMELESS:
Restless Zombie - 17,820 (AK on)
Vlad Vegeto - 16,626 (AK on)

REHA:
Sarkash - 25,433 (AK on)
Marakash - 22,753 (AK on)
Chief Harrus - 27,576 (AK on)
Ziraks - 29,718 (AK on)
Harrum - 26,551 (AK on)
boss K'Tahu - 41,401 (AK on)

If you have more AK scrolls, then below are the XP gains for the 9 regular enemies at Reha:

enemy 1 - 8,508 (AK on)
enemy 2 - 7,003 (AK on)
enemy 3 - 4,954 (no AK on)
enemy 4 - 5,192 (no AK on)
enemy 5 - 7,750 (AK on)
enemy 6 - 8,614 (AK on)
enemy 7 - 7,428 (AK on)
enemy 8 - 7,765 (AK on)
enemy 9 - 6,981 (AK on)

I've scouted Tekron and Sheterra, and they are both worth 1 whole AK each. The last AK in my path (using unicornXP's path) would be used for boss spider/boss frog/White Night/Dark Mistikus/Baal.

Note that my AK scroll count is limited, thus some of the battles above were done without an AK scroll on. If you happen to have more that enough to take out all of the enemies listed above, then you could use extra AKs on regular enemies at Sheterra and Nameless.

As for your question, I believe the fastest run which would still net you all 87 quests is 7 days. Adding an additional day (ie. 8 days finish) could not be compensated by adding just a single level; maybe 2-3 additional levels could do it, I'm not sure and I don't have time right now to crunch numbers using the high score formula.

Hope this helps.

Wow, that was a great summary lore, thanks a lot! This will greatly help me plan out a fantastic XP run, and hopefully anyone else who wants to get a little bit more juice out of their Ancient Knowledge scrolls.

Yeah, this game is too evil. After this, I "think" I am finished for a while.
