Hi guys! Let me start by saying that I've been lurking here for awhile, but this is my very first post (mostly out of desperation...) I play on the PS3, in realistic mode. I tried arcade, but couldn't stand it. I like the more realistic damage modeling. I've searched these forums, but can't seem to find the help I need. I would like one of the more experienced players to walk me through the "Nuts!" mission, step-by-step, because it is frustrating me to my wit's end.

First off, my gunnery skills aren't good enough to keep all the transports alive by myself, so I've found it necessary to have all my wingmen still alive when I reach the transports. At this point, after a couple of German attacks, one of two things can happen: Either the transports fly around erratically at high altitude and the mission never advances, or the three new drop zones spawn and I'm instructed to take out the ground targets.

So, if everything works, I rush off to take out the ground targets. But about the time I'm making my second pass on the first location, I ALWAYS get the message that the mission has failed because all the transports have been destroyed. Please note: at the time that I fly to the new drop zones, there are NO enemy planes in the area, and what looks like a couple of dozen transports alive and well. But I get the failure message, like I said, within a couple of minutes. Did they send the entire Luftwaffe after my transports in my absence?

I have spent hours on this mission, always with the same result (if it doesn't bug out and I have to restart anyway...) So I think I need someone to hold my hand and describe to me in detail each step I need to take for success. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Funny, a lot of people seem to have trouble in "Hornet's Nest", but I passed that one on my first try, it seemed very straightforward, compared to the irritation I am experiencing now. I thank you all in advance for any help you can give me.

There's a bug on that mission, I think:

I Just finished playing the game in Sim mode again and got the same two different scenarios you describe: either nothing happens or three drop point to check appear.

1.- Engage the bandits.
2.- If you do choose to help the tank: take out the three vehicles designated as targets.
3.- Rendevouz and Escort the C47s.
4.- ALWAYS STAY CLOSE TO THEM!
5.- Look for the three drops and destroy the trucks.
6.- Enjoy.

Thank you very much for your help. These were the things I was doing, but it never seemed to work. Last night, however, I tried the mission again, doing the same things, and everything seemed to work perfectly and I finally passed the mission!

Now I am stuck on the next-to-last mission in Berlin (can't remember the name.) I think I'll get through it alright, though. My biggest problem is that my gunnery is so bad, that I have real trouble shooting down fighters. If I could figure out a way to make my aiming reticle less twitchy, I would be golden. I have a hard time hitting fighters when I'm on their six and they are flying in a straight line!

Yeah, it's one of THOSE missions. But I made it through, because my wingmen saved the day again. My shooting skills are horrible. The wingmen are useless against ground targets, which thankfully I'm not too bad at. However, they are excellent against enemy planes.

I simply can't hold the reticle steady enough to hit my target. I understand leading and deflection, usually put my shots in the right place, but while trying to do so, I'm just twitching around all over the place. I guess I just need practice...

did you turn your sensitivity down? it really worked for me. and use rudder to bring your nose over the target or sweep back and forth...

I set my elevator sensitivity at the highest point it can be without stalling, and leave my aileron sensitivity on full, for maximum roll. With much practice in training, I'm getting a little better at hitting my target, although my wingmen are still much better at it than I am. Those guys are pros!
