I've seen mention of formation/ free flight interest on some of the other threads, so I figured I'd start one dedicated. I'm looking for fellow pilots to get together for some formation flying sessions/photo ops.

Any suggestions on locations, routes, plane groupings, and times certain would be appreciated.

I believe the best setting would be a team battle (so as not to let the auto-gunners have a field day) with one unlucky sort drawing the straw to fly alone or in a small group apart from the formation. Perhaps a lone German fighter to muck the formations up a bit/ take photos would be in order. Please add your suggestions.

To begin with, I'd much like to call out all of the B-17 folks for some historic formation flying over the channel/ dover. A few little friends escort would be highly anticipated as well. See the links for some visuals. http://www.303rdbg.com/formation.html, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Combat_box

Ideally I would like to have a catalog of each plane in a historic formation/ setting. Let me know your level of interest and I'll try to coordinate.

Excellent idea, McKinney! I am here!
is a bit 'of time I search mates for formation and free flights ..

a B17 historic formation flight for takes photo is wonderful idea .. maybe with a mass landing in Manston..

Another idea ... formation flights with landings and departures, maybe in the three airports in England.. or acrobatic flights and Air shows under the many bridges in the south of Berlin..

Count me in McKinney, I've done a spot of formation flying here and there.

This should turn out great, what with Gilly being able to take some amazing photos. B-17's should be interesting, not tried them out in a formation flight before, should be epic.

Also i'm available to fly as either B-17 or any sort of fighter escort

Good idea and i hope this gets alot of attention

Count me in there McKinney. I'll be happy to escort the big birds in a spit/hurry. Or play any part at all actually... I'll even take out my B-17 if the mood is right.

Besides, I haven't downed you in your B-17 yet! Was some great runs there last night over at Dover. My K-4 needs air-time soon...

Guys, do you think you can make a video for me and the rest of you, that you are flying your B-17s and dropping Bombs on your target and place it on Youtube? - that would be sweet for me, since i dont have the B17 yet..? ^^

I checked his website, but I can't find any video of B17's flying in formation and dropping Bombs on the Target. Gotta link? :)

Had a few great free flights last night and was able to get some lads together for some formation photo ops. First off, me and ParallaxView spent good time playing through the Kent map in a couple of Po-2s.

A few more joined in, and we practiced various formations over Dover... pictures from the lead to come. Here's a shot of us on the ground before we headed out.

We rounded the night out by having a bit of an airshow in P-47s over Manston and some touch and goes with the Arado.

I just flew a formation flight with ParallaxView, Cranny, and TERRORMONK this morning. For those of you who have never taken part in this type of mission, I highly recommend it! We drove P-51D's over Sicily and man, what fun!!! That was my 1st formation flight and I can't wait to do it again. Parallax said he or Cranny will be posting the pics here soon... :grin:watermanr7

So, to all who took part in today's epic runs around Dover in Spits, thank you. Great flying by Davedog, Kidrock, & Winny in these shots. Enjoy the pics.

After the formation bits in the Spits, a good group of us recreated a little Battle of Britain over Dover. Davedog and myself were in Spit II's. Winny, Kidrock, and Easy were in 109 E3s. I believe Easy has all the good shots of us pounding down E3s!

One more thing the time we fly P-47 Thunderbolts vs. Ta 152 H-1s,that sounds like 10,000ft. fun to me, a couple of B-17s in there the Ta 152 H-1s "TRYING TO INTERCEPT" and the P-47 Thunderbolts hammering down on those rebuilt Focke Wulfs,oh one more thing I got a picture I sent to Davedog of my Bf 109 E-3, his Spitfire is turning it into Swiss w/ flames.Well I will try to get some of my pictures on here of the "Battle of Britain".Well see you in the Sky.

I'll disagree, as "most beautiful german aircraft" is subjective in nature and unprovable.

I'd put my cash on any of Horton's designs as far as appearance goes. But hey, that's my subjective opinion.

Well i am talking about a G-6 here, one shot with those guns and it will know any planes out of the sky.But you are right appearance it pretty good too, well it's said and done "German Planes" are really good, well taking off, none else are on IL-2 anymore it is either MW2 or BC2 I like MW2 but you can't take screenshots, see you in the skyP.S.I wasn't talking about looks, but I do agree.
