All welcome to add to the list

How about a mid to mid-late game quest that always gives you a fixed special reward. Perhaps an item that while not equipped has a really hard keeper fight to obtain the bonus. Or a multi-stage quest like the Axe of the Elements where one obtains the different components to brew a special potion that allows you to choose 1 of your skills such as Voice of the Dragon, where that chosen skill is then open to be upgraded to level 5 (of course it still needs to be upgrade with costly runes). Any of the skills can be chosen but only 1 for the whole game. Adds a unique variable for replay value and discovery of what benefits the further upgrades provide in each skill.

I'm thinking a magical living witches cauldron that is really anti-social but when suppressed after a really difficult fight becomes helpful and instructs you on the different places to go and things to do to get the ingredients to brew a special potion.

Love this idea, would really add a substantial amount of replayability.

Another feature that would be really nice. 3 different big quests. Once each is completed one gains access to some shop or unit that offers you a choice to purchase at high cost 1 of any of 1/3 of all the items the game has to offer. Each shop offers only 1/3 of all the game items. Each shop offers a different fixed set of the 1/3, so that between all 3 shops one has access to all of the items the game has to offer. Once the item is chosen and paid for that's it, the shop/unit vanishes or something.

The reason being so one can make or complete item sets that may not have randomly spawned. But is limited so as not to be able to get multiples of too powerful of an item. Between the 3 shops one can choose each component of a set to make 1 full set (assuming a 3 item set) or complete a set missing a piece or 2, or just get something one likes but didn't spawn. The cost should be double or triple normal cost. Also, a few of the ultra special powerful items don't show up there at all, such as the Axe of Elements etc.

One of the funnest things in the game is making sets, but All Too Often full sets don't spawn.

Of course if this makes things too easy just make it so the difficulty of the game is boosted a bit after each shop is visited.

Seriously this game has infinite potential, it could be Epic!

A feature from the original Sega version would be nice to see. Could be added as a mod maybe...

Hero has a special map from start of game where the map face is concealed.

During the game pieces of the map are discovered, after a quest or defeated hero, each time a fragment of the map is revealed.

The map shows a part of some place potentially anywhere on the whole of the game. Each game the location is totally random.

If the hero goes to the exact location shown on the map and chooses to dig a special treasure of some sort is uncovered. The treasure never shows the light like other buried treasure shows. One has to find it exclusively by uncovering the map.

Digging randomly when there is no treasure light causes some consequence. Loss of money and game time or something.

Digging when there is a light shown has no consequence.

Or perhaps a special type of dig used exclusively for the special treasure that carries the consequence if used unsuccessfully.

The famous Mage Library (a castle that has been converted to a place of research and collection of magic) of Elon was taken over by orcs (or similar story), you have been asked to purge the evil and return the library/castle to the mage class elite of Elon.

After clearing the castle (and it's sprawling catacombs littered with forgotten treasures) the mages are very grateful and offer you access to the library. Now available are it's healthy resource of magic items and scrolls for sale, recruitment of it's mage units and especially: a personal concierge service allowing the garrison of scrolls instead of the usual garrison of units.

That'S a nice idea, but I'm wondering if it's that usefull. I think it will please the casual player (like me) but not the usual expert you can find here whom are looking to finish the game as soon as possible. Storing scroll for future fights and having to come back to replenish your book of scrolls won't be an option for them.

I'd love the option of leaving scrolls so the mage could mix spells together and create a new one. Like a scroll of fire and a scroll of trap becoming a fire trap adding fire damage with chance of burning. Will have to see if it could be possible to upgrade those spells like the other one. Since it will become spell of another house, an hybrid one. Maybe a skill that let you learn 3rd level hybrid spell enabling you to upgrade to level 3 any hybrid spells.

I think you shouldn't be able to mix all the spell together, maybe only spell from different house. Who wouldn't want the bless/stoneskin hybrid spell for 7 mana?
