Reichstag Assault final objective?

Hello everyone,

Got the game this week for 360 and I love it. But...

What exactly am I supposed to be doing on the last objective of Reichstag Assault? I start to attack the defenses around the Reichstag, then the game pulls me off of that attack and all my friendlies in the area are flashing yellow. There's no new objective in my map. If I stay in the area I get shot down by about 50 ME-262s. I finally beat the mission by flying out of the city around the German countryside, then after 20 minutes, I got the radio message telling me I was clear to come back and finish off the last few defenses at the Reichstag. I'm pretty sure that's not what I was supposed to do. Seemed to be quite an anticlimactic end to the most intense mission of the game.

Its been a while since i played the campaign so bear with me...

But when you destroy the first lot of defences you get called to your friendlies that are flashing yellow. The objective here is to defend them or just assist, so basically shoot down as many of the enemy fighters as you can to get the objective done and then carry on with the reichstag assault. You'll soon get it :D

I actually did that mission a few days ago and it played out exactly like you said. As I gathered you are simply supposed to survive the fighter attacks. For me too, the simplest thing was to fly out of the city, try to keep the ME262's at bay with my rear gunner and waited until enough of them got shot down by my allies.
But yeah, was a little anti-climatic, especially if you fly back and destroy the last 5 defenses in one swoop and you're done! Hero of the World achievement unlocked... a little cheesy for my taste ;)

Thanks guys. I guess you just get a choice: absorb a few deaths and have fun or avoid conflict and get it over with.
