I really do like this game and the campaign (have yet to venture online) but one thing that really annoys me. Why did they have the landing as the secondary mission. Its so frustrating to do the missions get to the runway and crash, and not beable to restart near the airfield. when i crash i like to have another pop at landing without going thru the whole mission again! I enjoy the landing!!
I like the feeling of finishing the primary objectives then landing the plane well, its gives a sense of accomplishment. (and more realism) I know in real life often pilots would complete the primary mission only to get shot down or didnt make it home, and i can understand why the devs allowed the game the way it is.

......but wish that the landing was part of the primary mission (basically retry-able), and if ppl have trouble landing they have unlimited attempts available to them. Of course they could still have a secondary mission but make them more combat orientated.

Anyone agree?

Not bashing i like IL2 i think its one of the best air combat games ive played, even more so then ace combat!!

if you get killed in the mission or fail an objective, you have to restart at the beginning. If there's 3 objectives before landing, there's no checkpoint for the 2nd or 3rd objective either.

It's a better simulation that way, no checkpoints. You have to get through the whole mission unscathed for it to count.

to cut down on crashing, try landing in training. Use the big airfield in England.

Not if you've completed all primary objectives (i.e. it's done the "Mission Complete - press Start to continue") bit. In that case, i.e. the case of crashing on landing at the end of the mission, it just returns you to the frontend. Which I think is the OP's problem...I remember it annoyed me on a couple of occasions.
