View Full Version : Post Patch MP scoring?
While we wait for the Xbox patch could the PS3 peeps explain the updated MP scoring as I'm sure it will be similar for the Xbox?

The problem with not getting credit for kills is not really fixed, but it is better. In DM and TDM you know get 5 points for every kill, and lose 1 point for every crash. Which makes it quite annoying when you have someone on your team that can't keep their plane in the air lol. Strike and CTA are the same I believe, although I haven't seen any negative strike scores since the patch.

iiiiiiiiiiiii want the patch wantthepatchwantthepatchwantthepatch ohhhhhh iiiiiiiii want the patch etc etc
Cheers, I ask because most games I join on Ranked Xbox (sim) are limited ammo/fuel and once the ammo has gone (you guessed) so has the plane! (and a point under the new scoring) :(.
Its become the norm now to encourage players to be more accurate with their aim and not spray endless ammo. It's a real bitch when you have a dead cert kill, press the trigger and ..............nothing! (till the patch comes out and then 'nothing' = minus 1).

after the patch, when u playing with unlimmited ammo and u shoot of the contingent of your normal ammo, u have to reaload for a while. (i think for 20sec.) this is a real handicap during a fight.
i hate it to play with limited ammo. most time i bailed out for ammo.
hmpf...
suicide for ammo.
annoying...
excuse my bad english...

Also not only does the 1-point penalty not make up for an opponent crashing before you get credit for the kill, they also didn't really fix the crediting system. It's improved, but there's still a lot of "player has crashed" messages to piss you off.
Basically, if a plane crashes with black damage, or a lot of red damage, it's pretty sure to be a kill for somebody. A little pink damage, and no kill. Which means Spitfires are still hard to get credit for killing (in sim at least) when you hit their wing and their pilot spins out.
Some things that are fixed (in sim):
Even with unlimited ammo, guns overheat. No more hailstorms of bullets everywhere.
flaps get damaged if you fly too fast or lower them without remaining level.
Opponents are visible from farther away, without the need for zoom camera
with the red/blackouts, planes can no longer turn 10-second sustained turns. More like 15 seconds now, and it makes the opponent hard to keep track of if you do it. Less ridiculous.
Landing works for most planes - there's no auto brakes, but pushing the tail into the ground works.
Flak works! You'll find singleplayer a lot harder, because those nice easy to spot targets with the big circles around them actually shoot you down now. So does the gunfire from the ships.
Some things that aren't fixed:
Spits still tip over when they land. Though they deserve it, I hate Spits.
Flaps still get stuck if you die on the ground with flaps down.
Strike mode still awards stars for killing planes, but not for damaging ground targets like you're supposed to.
The crash-on-spawn glitch is still as bad as ever, especially in games with 8 or more players.
In dogfight, crashing should be a 3 point deduction. Actually it should be a 5-point deduction and cause 5 points to be awarded to the player that inflicted the most damage, if any

LOL no it most definitely wasn't you mate - but then I can't talk. I always seem to have the most crashes. Occupational hazard of trying to look around while banking at treetop level. And also, I swear they've patched the hills to jump out in front of you now... :(
Spits still tip over when they land. Though they deserve it, I hate Spits.
It does happen, but it is definitely way better than it used to be. Before the patch my spitfire would tip 9/10 landings, but since the patch its more like 1/10.
Flaps still get stuck if you die on the ground with flaps down.
The problem here is simply that flaps don't reset to raised when you respawn. So if you have landing, take off or combat flaps engaged when you die, then respawn and hit WEP without raising them, they will jam. If you remember to raise them before going after more blood you will be fine.
The crash-on-spawn glitch is still as bad as ever, especially in games with 8 or more players.
I wouldn't say it's as bad as ever, but it is certainly still present. But like the kills not awarded and landing tip, it's vastly improved.
The kill scoring has never been a real issue with me as I find the current scoring system generally balances out evenly amongst all the players. Losing a point for a crash should at least benefit the players who crash less though 2 points deducted would make more of an impact. Thanks for all the info as I was unaware of some of the 'fixes' mentioned.

I'm still dissapointed that the patch doesn't fix the unawarded kills like Anton said it would. Anyway at least you say its better than it was. In a dogfight with SEE and 2 others last night, at one point I made a note of our total kills and total of deaths. We had only 3 kills between us (1,1,1,0) and around 15 crashes!!!!. And I know these pilots, we try to hold it in the air as long as possible so the attacker can get their kill and none of us crash without massive damage. I had to take a break from this game the last couple of day mostly because of this, it gets me frustrated. Not really because I want to get a high kill score, but because I want to know who has shot me down and likewise when I shoot them down I want them to know it was me getting some revenge lol
Being primararlily a Boom and zoomer. I get about 1 kill for about every 5 or 6 crashed kills. What would you say my ratio would be with the patched game? I'd be ok with 1 kill for every 2 crashed.

It feels to me like you'd get maybe 4/6 kills...? I think it depends how seriously you damage them on a pass. If you can put a lot of rounds into them you are more likely to get credited. But then I've clipped someone's wing at about 5m altitude and they've gone straight into the deck and it registered as a crash.

It's a bit strange yes. In a dogfight - Infinite you remember that game with cloudy sky, no one scored points lol :D - I shot down a p51 (the guy later said I made his wing black) but again was a crash, not a kill.
