to destroy ground targets with missiles ? or with 100lb bombs ? have anyone the platin trophy ? could it be, that hitting targets with fighter bomber gets after patch more difficult ?
could we get an actually Unlock List for Planes ?

No, its not easier...

But the number of targets you have to destroy is reduced now.
So you can unlock the weapon sets faster.

You can try your luck and hit targets that have been already damaged by bombers or you can destroy targets in suicide runs.

If you crash your plane, lets say a P51, into a target you take around 3-4 tickets. Not much, but much more than with rockets :)

Just set up games with a 300 ticket counter, 20 min. time limit and pray that no one with a B17 joins and ends the game before you had the chance to take out a target :D

Funny you should mention this. I am just trying to clean up the last of the unlocks I need, of which there aren't many. I got most of them before the patch, but now I only need a couple of B17 ones for 10 and 15 strike wins, an LA7 one for destroying one strike target (which I'll tell you how in a sec), I need to destroy 1 more strike target with the IL10 and get 3 more wins with it and I think that's it.

Last night I got all the unlocks for the P51B/D amongst others. How? I decided to use oceanx's tactic. Anyone that tells you flying a plane into a strike target does no damage is talking bollocks. Doing that I managed to destroy 3 targets in one 20 minute match with an IL10 that had only 4x50kg bombs.

So that's it basically... pick one target and just keep flying into it. Fire guns at it on approach (I don't know if it helps, but it's something to do ;)). Drop any bombs you have as soon as you can - but don't drop a second load because they will most likely kill you before you can crash into the target.

If you want, add me (same PSN as forum name) and I'll gladly help you out. Once I have these final few unlocks I just need to finish 100 mission in an IL2 and the platinum will be mine :P

I have one more left, kill 1 ground target with the LA-7.

I spent over ten minutes pounding a bunker with my IL-2M's 4x 100 kg bombs, I managed one bunker that game luckily everyone was a fighter apart from me & my clanmate.

I got my P51-D ground kill by crashing into a boat (fired a few rockets beforehand). A B17 had bombed it previously though :) what made it better was it was my first attempt at getting a ground kill with the P51-D.

I wish that there was some AAA around the bunkers which the fighter bombers could clear out before the big bombers arrived could add another tactical side to the mode and some easier ground kills for the unlocks.

Funny you should bring this up. Last night I was trying to kill ONE ground target in strike with the IL-2. I pounded it with rockets and bombs for about 10 minutes in a 20 minute match and didn't get it. 3 matches in a row. The points were coming off the board but only 1 or 2 at a time. I got shot down a few times and a few others one of my teammates flew over in a bomber and wasted my target and took the points. I was hoping maybe I would find a target already hit and mop up, but no dice. So yeah, it's still hard as hell to kill targets with a pea shooter. Oh, well, keep trying!!!!!!!

Hey stingersix78! I played with you last night! Made a friend! I'll be back tonight. What's the significance of 78? As long as I got ya, there is a trophy for 50 landings in Airfields on Realistic setting. You have to get that trophy to get the platinum. We should hook up and play this and do nothing but land.

I thougt i recognised you from somewhere, i was playing a team battle match the other night and you were in it. I lost most of my fuel and ammo chasing you down, i remember i was shooting at you and you broke off and what looked like you raised your flaps, Then you took me on a long chase away from all the action. :grin:

I have to give you credit though, most people would have just shot straight up and tried to engage, Which i can tell you doesn't end all that well. ;)

Oh sorry, what i mean to say is, You are good at flying, most people would try to fight back, but you were able to stop me from shooting you down by flying in a faster plane in a straight line.

yeah, i like to fly the later bf109 series, but in a tnb dogfight they are ... hmm.
but there is enough power to escape, regroup, spot the enemy from the distance and attack. perhaps u make not many kills, but live longer.^^
and the underpowered enemy waste a lot of ammo ... ;)

Last night I went after one target in an IL2. There was me and one other player for 20 minutes. I was unhindered trying to destroy it. I was using the 132 type rockets. I don't know what the difference is with the 82 type. Anyway, they were useless. I hit the target repeatedly with all 8 rockets and got no points at all. No effect! The 100kg bombs took about 4 points a load off the board. I made pass after pass. I took OVER 100 points off the board in a ten minute span and the target WAS NOT DESTROYED. I resorted to kamakazi attacks and killed it with the first hit. I then concentrated on another target going straight at it. It took 5 or 6 hits to destroy it. I did the same thing with an IL2M with the same results. Apparently it wont die with either these particular planes weapons or the smaller weapons in general. I don't know. But anybody reading this, you'll have to crash into the targets to get the unlocks. I'll find out tonight if this is true for the P51D and LA7 as well.

Same deal for P51 and La7.
