I would like to extend an apology for a young kid on my friend's list. I had to get onto him pretty hard last night in private, because he has gotten very obnoxious lately. Those of you I fly regularly with know who you are, and who I am talking about. I do not know this kid personally, but started flying with him as soon as BOP came out. He started out being a pretty good kid, but the longer time has gone, the more obnoxious he has become. He is very rude, loud, and insulting to many in the rooms, especially my British friends. I got him in a private chat and got onto him pretty hard, and explained to him that he is flying with an older crowd, and we simply don't find allot of the adolesent humor as funny as he does. He is only 16 or 17, but that is no excuse for being a total jerk on line. He likes to fly with me for some reason, and I warned him that if he keeps being an ass to my other friends in the rooms, that I will end up putting him on ignore. I don't want to flatter myself, and assume that is some sort of punishment, but like said, for some reason, he tends to like flying with me. He said he will "chill out".. We'll see, but, again, I apologize for him if he won't, and he is soon to be on my ignore list if he don't get a grip..

That said, this kid seems to be a total jerk to my British friends.. He told me in private chat that he has a problem with Brits. I told him "Well, you have no merit having a problem with these guys. Myself, being a Veteran has fought side by side with the Brits, and there are no other people I would rather have my back. American's have alot to learn from their military. If you fought along side with those guys, you might have allot more respect... You are young, and don't know XXXX about life yet, and your history ignorance is really showing these days..."

Anyway, I don't like to just blow someone off, I would rather try to educate someone of ignorance.. That is the only way to change them...

Cheers Mates...

It's ok, your average Brit (European even?) isn't that fond of Americans either :-P

Good point.. But I also have experienced the animosity 1st hand while serving in Germany for 3 years. But, the problems were with the younger generations, just as it is here for other countries and cultures. The older people loved us over there. Many of the older people said it was because the younger people don't know their history, or worse, how it is to live in a communist rule. Many of the older people in Germany lived through the WWII, and Hitler's rule, and knew that life, and also now knew freedoms they didn't have as kids. The younger people's ingnorance is what caused allot of the animosity problems. I even had this kid I am talking about say (and you won't believe this level of ignorance, lol) "I just can't understand them. They should speak English.. " hahah.. I laughed out loud over that one. I told him that it was us American's that don't speak proper English, and we were the ones that butchered that language beyond belief. I asked him "What language are they speaking in England, if it is not English? Ironic how the country has a similar title as our language.." he didn't have allot to say about that.. i think he realized how stupid of a comment that was.. hahhah..

But anyway.. In my experience, the issues stem from the younger people on both sides of the pond..

Young people have more time for petty biggotry, while older people have more important things to worry about maybe?

That might have allot to do with it. But, it shouldn't be used as an excuse. My daughter is a young teen, and has high respect for others and their cultures, and differences. I think it is just some kids, and their parents accept ignorance instead of getting educated on any subject before you pass any judgement or comments on it... I have 3 grown sons in that generation as well (26, 24, 19) that also have much respect for other cultures and differences... So, their age shouldn't be an excuse to be ignorant...

I believe Im in the age group your talking about. I have the upmost respect for people of other nations. What does annoy me when people and i hate to say its mainly americans think that they are gods gift at everything. The number of times the word Brit has been used as an insult is irritating. However I do have a possitive opinion of these countries and their peoples and the actions of a few shouldnt be used to judge a nation.

LOL, yeah i know exactly who yor talking about, if i remember rightly he also got given a nickname that rhymed with his name!!

He drives me mad, he has so much to say for himself and as much as he "hates brits" he has no idea why he actually hates us, only reason being "because my mates hate them". He does wind me up so much and theirs nothing i'd like more than to bring the snotty little shit down a peg or two, but that said i just try to ignore him or laugh off his stupidity.

Tudorp - you shouldnt have to apologise for him, you fly with us and we know the score already. At no point will anyone blame you for his stupid behaviour.

Catch you online soon hopefully mate :D

The mrs is here tonight so as of 8:30pm (GMT, an hour away) im effectively grounded for the night :(

hahah.. Well, I have a light one myself being from the south/east US. Lived allot of my life after the Air Force in Texas where I met my wife (She's a native Texan). I used to have a strong south/east US drawl, but lost allot of it in the diverse United States Air Force. I worked with so many from many walks of life, so I have a mixture of ascents, lol.. But most people know it is from somewhere in the south. That said, I have to admit that us in the southern US has really butchered up the United States butchered up version of the English language, hahhah....

I'm Dutch. I have an American accent as long as I can rember, I had a teacher from Chicago so that may explain it? I'm a Redneck who turned into a city-slicker and I'm alway's surrounded with car entousiast so that may cause it too?

I'm a Fascist and i'm pro-German cause Germany is the best country in the World IMO
i dunno... I allway's had an L.A accent. I speak fluant German and i even got a German accent. i'm multi languaged, i taught my self that. allway's had an A+ for English ( was allway's better then my teatcher)

I guess that Language was - or is- my Hobby?

You got an LA acscent with a redneck twist, from an english teacher from the midwest, from Chicago no less? hahhah.. If you knew how funny that sounds.. lol.. Like I said, I was raised by a south/eastern family, but in south Chicago from 3rd grade until I went into the service. Yeah, that is why my acscent is so screwed up too, hahhahh.. Midwestern US has an acscent, and then Chicago has a completely different unique acscent/dialog.. lol.. When I first moved from the Southeastern US to Chicago, friends I made there couldn't understand a word I was saying, and I couldn't understand a word they said. It took many years to be mulitligual within the english language.. lol..

No offense meant, but the people I find most annoying on CoD are 10 year old brits that scream through the mic 'You cheater! I could own you if I want! blabla!' while running around with an MP40 and a k/d of .1.

The last time I was on CoD (WaW), it was a load of 10 year old Americans spouting "nig... this" and "nig... that", which to me, is much worse. Especially as I said "you realise I'm black, and take offense to your comments" (although I'm not, but they don't know that). Well, of course, that was like red rag to a bull...

Maybe we are just better at filtering out the local rubbish we're more used to hearing? lol

Again, I blame ignorance - they're just regurgitating a word because they think it sounds cool, without any clue as to the roots, offensiveness or implications of the word.
