Only jsut noticed this, and as petty as it may sound i find it quite annoying and a huge let down.

When on the ground i noticed the wheels on my plane dont turn, they are static!!

This is the xbox 360 a powerful games console. What kind of cowboy outfit cant even make wheel turn on a plane!! why give us the ability to land/take off if

a) we can re arm or refuel
b) we gain nothing from it
c) wheels dont turn!!

goddam its guys, were finding more things everyday.

News of the patch yet?

im sad to say it, but im afraid with the lack of news from anton and co that this game will be traded inshortly and i'll be sticking to over g fighters.

You cant say they sont check this site.

One of them is online checknig it right now ;)

Noticed this a while back. Took this screen shot of the PO 2. Note the 'flat' bottoms of the wheels to suggest them as being 'under load'on the ground. Just a minor nit-picking issue that would've gone uncommented had the rest of the game been worthy of keeping.

hahha.. Yeah, I noticed that a week or two ago, and said to myself.. "With such a cool game, this is a cheap ass detail.. " lol... The more we play it, the more analytical we will be with it. It's natural..But, yeah, that is such an easy thing to spend a little bit of time on to fix. It's the small attention to detail that makes a big impact on anything worth building IMHO.. Still gonna fly tho..

I am hoping by at least by the time a sequil comes out that they have been listening. Gamers are becoming more and more detail oriented and demanding. The devs need to be noticing that. In my lifetime, I have seen gaming go from actually out in the yard playing lawn darts, to PONG, Astroids, Space Invaders to Frogger and Donkey Kong, to Defender and Xaxxon, Red Barron, Doom, and now what they are today.. It is breath taking what the games have evolved from in my lifetime. A kid today will laugh their ass off watching a PONG match when back in the 1970s, we thought that was the most unbelieveable thing to be able to play tennis on our big ass TVs that we had to wait to warm up before they came on.

We used to grip about the ball on PONG being square, now we grip about wheels on our planes not turning. hahhah...

Fun to think about..

I love the game for what it is, but I wish I could go back to playing something like 1946 too. Sadly I have a mac. That's why when I saw this I was wished that it would be everything like 1946 but on a console, so I could finally get my chance to play real IL2 games. But it didn't happen. :( But still I guess it's the best flight sim I'm going to get right now, so I should just be happy with what I have.

Also, X-Play gave this game a 10/10 on their review...lol.

Doesn't seem like a practical way to do it though.

nah, I don't think that will work without the performance being significantly decreased. It would be doable if I had an intel mac witch can run with XP, but both mine are PPC's.

I never noticed this and frankly it doesn't surprise me. It's funny how many issues I and a lot of us have with this game, but we still come back for more. We come back because it's simply the best flight (cough) sim for 360/PS3.

I think the biggest problem this game has is that it has tried too hard to please everybody. It's tried to have Arcade mode and Simulation mode. It's tried to represent (almost faithfully) aircraft from the Axis and the Allies. It's tried to take the player to all the fronts with the campaign. What the developers should have done was concentrate on one country, one front and one level of difficulty (with the player being able to adjust). I guess this is really why the first IL-2 was so successful when it came out.

Come on guys, wheels that don't turn? lol. Thats hardly an issuse at all. And I certainly wouldn't want a game with a shorter, less diverse sp campaign, with fewer planes, just to have moving wheels. I fully agree on the fact that the game didn't need the arcade mode though, the time spent on that could have been better used improving multiplayer (more modes, less bugs and stupid mistakes)

I agree Pope.. I noticed the wheels not turning a couple weeks ago, but it didn't bother me much. I basically just laughed. It wouldn't be a deal breaker to me. I like the diversity of the game with plane choices and battle choices. I do wish they would fix the MP though, because that is the re-playability part of the product.

After all said and done, and knowing now, what I didn't know when it was released, I WOULD buy it again.. Come to think of it. I did.. I bought my son a copy so we can get on line and fly together. He lives 2000 miles away from me with his wife and my grandchild. So, now he is hooked too...

For me it's not really "Oi! The wheels don't turn this game sucks!" But it's just another unfinished thing to add to the list for this unfinished game. But like it's been said, whine all we want, they know most of us are going to keep playing just because this is the the best flight sim on consoles. And there lies the real tragedy.

Why is the fact that the wheels dont turn mean its unfinished? Maybe the developers felt it unimportant, and the time could be better used elsewhere. The wheels where never intended to turn, so the work on them was FINISHED.

And I guess multiplayer was never intended to work properly, the flight models were never intended to be correct, etc. People are always finding little things done wrong in all games, and it usually doesn't bother me. Yes, it only some wheels, but with all the big things wrong with the game, it feels more than it is. I dunno call it irrational, but that's just my thought process I guess. ;)

Well I was talking about the wheels only there. Of coarse there are other parts of the game that the devs were unable to get as good as they would have liked thanks to deadlines, making it unfinished. But again every game released is unfinished to a certain degree.

If you have a new intel mac you can install windows xp onto it. I did, even though it can't put out the best graphics(1946 doesn't require much) I can still play Empire: Total War, Left 4 Dead, and Team Fortress 2.

They really should have ported IL2 1946 over with all features period - with the small amount of aircraft in BOP, I don't see why just doing that with graphical upgrades is unreasonable.

You'd still have a game accessible to everyone - more so than what we have now.

Having mission editor like 1946 would let us make our own online game modes. And having a dedicated server would let the community setup their own dedicated servers constantly running and allowing people to join and leave as they wish.

There was NOTHING wrong 1946 short of graphics - much more success would have come out of realizing that and just enhancing the visuals.

The game we have now is such that if one owns 1946 and BOP, that person is likely to give BOP a couple of weeks of "wow, nice graphics" play time and then head back to 1946 for something more "complete". BOP is the dumb blonde you mess around with before marrying a chick you can actually live with the rest of your life.

Like I said before, both my mac's are PowerPC's. Too bad though. :(

Can't see them from the cockpit anyway. Hardly an issue. Pretty sure the paint might be scratched and my fly open, but I can't say for sure yet.
I'm sticking with both IL2 and OGF, I've got room for 2 discs around here, maybe even a few more. ;)
