Hurricane reigns supreme online (why??)

Ok i love the hurricane, a superb plane and a true icon.

Ok enough of the brown nosing, now down to business........


I think its to good online.



Tonight we have played 5 games using the hurricane online in sim mode. All team battle.

We have won 5 of 5.

First game the enemies were 109's (G'sx2 and a K)
second game was a mix, 109's and spitfire
third game was the same as the first
fourth game (the toughest yet by far) was against a spitfire IX, 109K, IL2/M
Firth game was against LA-7 X2 (Final score 9-1 to the hurricanes)

Me and robotic pope were taking the hurricanes. It just seems so comfortable and easy to fly with a good amount of ammo and 12 guns that do the job. Stalls and spins are practically non existant and it handles well. Level flight it suffers for speed, and....... in the beggining stages of a climb it loses speed, but as the climb progresses so does the speed, comfortably. If you can work around the speed issue then you have one hell of a plane on your hands. As much as i hate to say it..... i think this plane is better than it should be.


Maybe me and robotic pope have played with it to much and can utilize it to the best of its ability?? we seem to work well together when using it.

Anybody else used the hurricane alot online in sim mode and have anything they can add to this that would contribute to it being used effectivly etc.

I think some of our sucess comes from good team work, but I do agree that the Hurricane is probably a bit too good. Yes it is pretty slow but it just doesn't stall. At one point tonight I was in a vertical climb chasing a 109 and my speed dropped to almost 60mph and still no stall before I killed the 109 and easily leveled off. You can also sit doing riculusly tight turns non-stop. Although I will say that we need more planes that can challenge the La7 in a turning fight, not less so I'm not complaining.

What Shocked me again was how crap the Mustang Ia feels to fly after a few games in a Hurricane, and those weedy 4 machine guns that should be cannons couldn't even scratch that damn IL 2M, not to mention the super high stall speed. You won that game all by yourself in the Hurricane.

Was a team game robotic :D we kept an eye on each other and also communicated well, so we also had control of the situation. Between us i think we prevented ourselves getting shot down a few times just by warning each other of an enemy plane that was coming in for the kill. Great co ordination :)

I remember the climb at 60MPH lol, i was on your wing the whole way up, then lost you in the cloud and shit myself because i had this vision of coming out of the cloud and into you haha. Superb games. I must admit though the mustang did look like it was having problems a few times with the IL2. We got it in the end though :D

Im hoping the yak-3 or yak-1b if flown well gives the hurricane a challenge. We've not gone up against them yet so may try this tomorrow. It was a bit of a dissapointment tonight when we went up against the LA-7 because we thought that out winning streak was going to come to an end (especially as the enemy both used the LA-7) but it turned into a slaughter, the LA-7 just got demolished.

It was faster but only a couple of round from the hurricane would blown it to pieces, and because we had so much ammo (we use limited ammo) we could offord to "snipe" so to speak and we were shooting them down far to easily.

Its definately something we will have to look into further. Maybe take an LA-7 up myself against the hurricane and see how it copes.

Whoever was flying them wasnt flying them correctly ;) lol. IF a 109 manages to jump you and get rounds into you then your pretty screwed, but its your own fault as the hurrican pilot for not being on the ball and keeping your tactical awareness up :)

to be fair though, when we were flying it earlier, our targets alot of the time did try to turn us alot, but they lost speed and we could out turn them and get our kills.

The 12 guns are much better than people give them credit for. Granted they are not the best but they are damn good none the less :D

i do think this plane is a little to strong though.

This thread wasnt to say how good the hurri is and how bad everything else is, so dont worry :)

Im a realist and was shocked at how well the hurricane was performing i all scenarios when flown with another hurricane. Im my eyes its better than it should be.

Spent a while in free flight last night using both the hurricane and the LA-7, nad the LA-7 beats it in every dept... though armament could be disputed?? i know the LA-7 has a cannon but the 12 MG's on the hurri seem to take it out extremely easily.

As stupid as this sounds -

I would love to go up against you and seraph (both in LA-7) and lose. I want to lose and expect to lose. Just so i can see how the hurricane performs.

:( Ive lost my winning streak in the Hurri. And it was 4 of us V 3 of them. I had Benrizz on my side and we both did well separately but we had no team work (no mics) and the two others on our side got no kills. So our team work in the Hurri is as important as the planes ability.

Bring on the La-7's Morgoth ;) We will probably lose I know but it will be a fun challenge.

benrizz is a good player, but the mic problems would only worsen due to difference in language, he's french i believe so its hard for him to understand us and communicate etc. Though all credit to him he does try his best when he can :D

That Hurricane does seem to take a lot of hits though.

The fw190 owns the hurri backwards and forwards in IL2 1946 - it would do the same in BOP if they didn't screw something up on the flight model (no idea what they did to it).

In 1946, it is probably the ultimate BNZ plane because of its high speed control authority, roll rate, and the best guns in the game - a good pilot can always manage a deflection shot even if the enemy knows he's being bounced - and with the FW's guns, that quick shot can do ugly damage.

Too bad the FW flies like it's carrying 200% fuel and bombs in this game.

Indeed for the teamwork, I must say that understanding you is a bit difficult through trough the Mic.
I can understand simple sentences ("save my ass", "Friendly fire friendly fire what the F**uck are you doing, escort me to the red base...etc).

But when it comes to long story. And all of you like a lot speaking for hours about plane armaments, kills they had during the previous game...etc.
And i'm not used to your accent (And I've got a terrible french one ;) )

I play the ps3 but I've faced a bunch of Hurricanes online and I have a hunch the matches you're talking about were unlimited ammo.

If so, that's the reason they do so good... what I've seen so far is the online is dominated by decent turners with machine guns. With unlimited ammo, using machine guns gives you a much greater number of chances to hit and do a bit of damage from far away. The Hurricane especially covers a huge amount of target profile with its guns. You can fire from much farther away than normal, before you're close enough for the target to effectively break out of plane, and if you can nick the target a couple times, it's easy to close in for the kill.

It does seem like the Hurricane overperforms in level turns, but it is a slow plane... a lot of people fly their planes too fast and expect to turn the corner on a much slower plane, when they should go 3-D first to slow down. Not implying that you all do, but it's pretty common.

Too bad limited ammo never works... there's no penalty for just crashing and respawning.

the majority of us all play together online, now and again picking up a few new players. We play sim mode and limited fuel/ammo, we go full real. :D

But I must say. That I fell in love with my MKXVI. He is a chainsaw. You cut everything in half with that plane.

Since you did the hard lobbying for that plane on this forum, I see more hurrican now online. ;) I guess the time has come for the british fashion week... ;)

i have my sensitivity turned down 6 or 7 notches. Though i will only fly the hurricane if -

a) i see someone else using it
b) that someone else communicates

A pair of hurricanes helping each other can do quite well, but on its own... its a massacre :(

I usually stick the the Spit XVI online if im up against 109's but if i see IX's online then i'll switch that that as the IX can out turn the XVI.

So.....

you will see me in either a hurricane a IX or XVI. Most of the time its the XVI :D

You were the only guy flying the hurricane so it woldnt of really worked :D the spit on the other hand would of fitted in well with me and the other guy on our team who was also flying the spit. We did ok. Wasn't me who shot you down lol, i was on your team.

I've seen you in the 110 a few times, i must admit i do single you out if i see you in it. Nothing personnal but the 110 is big, easy to hit and slow enough :D and on sim mode with limited ammo you need all the hits you can get lol.

i think you will find that it was me that was shooting you down mate i just couldnt figure out why you kept flying away from the fight???

I remember Foz saying the exact opposite to me in our first ever Hurri team up. I picked the Hurri and he complemented me on it and picked a hurri too.

That 110 on the other hand is only any good in matches with loads of people so you can catch someone unawares. Its climbs slow,dives slow, turns slow, rolls slow, doesn't take much to take down (although you CAN still fly it with blacked out wings) ,and the rear machine gun seams to have less than half the power than the one in the IL2M. You fly it in our games and you die many, many times. I tend to fly the planes you don't see often in multiplayer, so I still use the 110 now and then. Ive never got more than 4 kills in a game with it, and my usuall count is 0 or 1. It sucks.

You and seraph play very well together, its hard to tr yand get one of you because you know the other is gonig to be waiting for you so you really have to be careful :(

make your shots count!!


the LA-7 can out turn, out climb, out dive, out gun, its so much better than the hurricane. So i find you get that quick shot and make your rounds count you'll take your target out, then do all you can to shake the other one off your 6.

Great game though, well played by you and seraph i have to hand it to you, you both know how to fly :D

When i was damaged enough i would try my best to keep the hurricane flying long enough for one of you to get a deserved kill

Enjoyed the games a lot :). I've tried to continue flying when shot as well.. I actually shot down 4 aircraft with a dark red wing and light red fuselage... my roll rate was busted though :o.

it was a huge team battle, not the hurri v LA-7 fight that we was going to do :D were still to try that one. Though i do recall that in the last game when MorgothNL took the LA-7 i shot him down 3 times for 0 losses in my hurricane :P

only beause of hit and run though, getting him on the sly when i got the chance. If id of stuck about he would of mauled me for sure in it.
