Perhaps this isnt the proper place to post, but I just wanted everyone to know I was responsible in a large part for starting an argument about the stat padding of the IL-2 in the game. I still think I'm correct on this, but:

I actually payed attention to the tactics explained by Lexandro and used them in training. Guess what? THEY WORKED!!
I have now been able to take down IL-2's with some regularity using my G-6 and K-4.

Even though Lexandro was respectful and factual in his argument, I took many statements out of context, and got too fired up on the issue. For this I make an apology to Lexandro. I want to let him know that there are no hard feelings. I do not dislike anyone on this board, besides its not worth it. I have loads of respect for Lexandro and everyone else here, I just wanted to let him and everyone else know this...even if it is a bit late.

Was just going to ask the same thing.

Even better, re-post the advice here :)

Just to add it here also, my advice was basically thus;

Dont sit on an IL's 6 o'clock, if you do this then you deserve to die.

Attack IL's from above or below, BnZ attacks work very well as do belly attacks where the turret position is not able to fire on you.

Combine and co-ordinate attacks with wingmen to create a "kill zone". One man attack from the flank while another attacks from above, giving the turret position a harder task to track multiple targets.

Hit the wings if you can, as they are as susceptible to cannon fire as any other aircraft.

And finally, a tactic I didnt add before was barrel rolling. Barrel rolling around an IL is a great way to throw off the turret gunners aim. Use the barrel roll with the nose down slightly to "spiral" towards the IL and move it in and out of your firing arc, then disengage after you fire.
