Been reading through the threads on a suitable joystick for the Xbox360 and was going to get the Saitek AV8R but also came across a few posts that that seem to suggest an 'update' is imminent that will let you interface a pc Joystick to the Xbox. I have a USB Saitek 3D Gold and would really appreciate knowing if this is correct and if it will apply to all USB joysticks or a selected few? Don't mind buying another but have also read that some peeps are finding the deadzone a problem and might be better to hang on and see what updates become available.......hate flying with a gamepad as it doesn't feel right.

what I am led to understand is the "pc joystick" support is only for Playstation3

The PC joysticks addition in the patch is for PS3 only. Blame Microsoft, your only choice is an Ace Edge ($$$) or AV8R-2 (carefull don't touch, it might break)

Hmm, naughty word comes to mind! I suppose if they (MS) decide to translate their WW2 Combat Flight Sims across to the Xbox it will come with a patch or a dedicated MS joystick that also costs mega bucks..........so the AV8R is naff and the only other alternative is megabucks......me thinks I should have just upgraded my PC!

Cheers, but whats a 'zip tie mod' ? Will get the AV8R anyway as the game pad really sucks when you are used to a stick.

The stick really sucks when you are used to a stick as well.

1.5 inch radius deadzone 360 degrees all around.

Hmm, is the dead zone an issue with the AV8R design rather than the console or do all third party interfaces suffer this problem?

Are the deadzone there aswell when you connect it to a pc?

The aviator are supposed to work on pc too.

On the PC the AV8R-2 has no deadzone what so ever, so either the deadzone is caused by the game or more likely, the xbox.

However the av8r is less than ideal for PC use, not all buttons/functions will work from start. Maybe it's fixable with some programs/emulators but I haven't been able to work it out. The AV8r is still okay though if you don't already have a decent PC flightstick.

The deadzone is caused by the MS drivers on the Xbox. It's the main reason it's probably not going to improve anytime soon.

Did you try to download the drivers from saitek site?
