That's part of the problem with the genre. Expectations are pretty high with this game so I think he just need to concentrate on getting out the door. The other side to that coin is the publisher that's paying for this development might have him under a tight leash. Our genre isn't the most popular nor is it the big money maker people here in the forums would like to think.

Let's just hope the guy gets it out the door soon. My guess is they will push for Christmas this year.
Agree, he said 80% complete

Some of you guys kill me, we are all entitled to our opinion, you don't see me flaming anyone because they found the interview interesting or found something new in it. I personally did not find anything new in it, but if i post it here i get flamed for whining, you guys should get out more and learn the art of debate. One more thing, now that Oleg is using modders on SOW are we now free to talk about mods on here?

The only thing that is going to make people happy is when SOW is on the retailer shelves.

Oleg made an effort, give him credit for that.
I don't think that even that will make them happy...

Nope, not until he says it's OK.

There are plenty of sites you can visit and talk about them there.

Indeed.

Then the replies are "WHAT? We waited so long for this buggy piece of software?", "[PLANETYPE] is porked - 10 years of development and you got that screw in the wrong place?", "WTF? You said playable groundunits. Why can't I go into the bar and have a drink after a mission?", "17 planes? Are you kidding me? You got to add at least 300 planes or I'll stay with IL2", ...

Some of them even sound familiar now...

@ JG27CaptStubing:
Agreed. The bad thing is, they don't rush things by flaming or make anything better. Instead they cause bad publicity like in the article Tree quoted. If you really want this game to be a success when it is released, take the responsibility, do you part of this project and act like grownups, not like a 3 year old waiting for Santa.

Well, I actually think the interview was rather interesting as it actually did provide quite a lot of information about the current state of the project, and it has placed some timeframe of the release at least (2010). The fact that he commented on the shutting down of aces studios also gives a fresh feeling as the screenshots could have been from 2006 But I do like the high res Emil...

One thing I like a lot are the indications lately that 1C has helped MG with resources for 3D eye candy and skeletal animations etc. MG are good at flight model stuff etc, but add some young wizkids that can do those fancy 3D fires seen in BoP etc... No need to let the former flight engineers spend valuable time learning the latest Dx10 effects.

If I was Oleg I wouldn't even bother posting here anymore... Theirs really no point, and it only seems to stir up a wave of negative speculation. Most of the people here are longtime simmers and will end up buying the game, and if someone decides that they don't want the game because Oleg didn't "jump through the hoops"...well, chances are that they wouldn't have been happy with anything anyway (and its kind of sad)...

I'm not a "brown noser" but I don't really see how negative speculation is any more realistic/constructive then positive speculation...

Well to be fair he doesn't post here much anyway. The last post he made here was 5 months ago.
