* By popular demand, enemy indicator arrows will now only appear in the no-cockpit
view, and will not show up when the cockpit is turned on, i.e. work they did in
the original Il-2 games.

BOOO Ive allways wanted this feature in the Original IL-2 game!! Thought i finally got it only for it to be ripped away. Why not just add an Difficulty option to be able to toggle the Arrows on or off no matter if cockpit is allways on or not!

After this latest patch the game now freezes up on entry to flight - I see the cockpit view and hear engine noise, but the screen is frozen even after several minutes.

Giving up, uninstalling and moving on.

Default Luthier - ref your lost-sound solution

Hi Luthier,

I was told you had recommended the following to overcome the lost-sound problem (I can't find your post on that).

I have backed up and deleted ALL my conf.ini, confuser.ini, confs.ini, user.ini and bldconf.ini files including the Steam User Data ones, then I validated the Steam installation and ran CoD once to create my /1C Soft Club/ ini's.

I also read that you felt editing the .ini files can cause problems so before I go too far, I would like to know what I can and can't edit in the ini files to save time on in-game selections. What /can I/should I NOT/ copy across from the old files or do I have to start again with all of the in-game selections.

I do have a saved controls file I would like to reload, is that ok?
I would like to just copy back my user.ini (gun settings) file, is that ok?

EDIT: and all to no avail. Fine off-line, sound breaks up and disappears in MP

Cool Testing, testing, testing?

I have been working on a 'German campaign' today in the FMB (offline) featuring III/JG26 (its Sunday and its raining in OZ).

Every time I had a break and left the game, when coming back, I got the following 'very friendly' message from our 'very helpful' friends at 'STEAM"!?!

'Steam -warning'
"!" Steam was unable to sync your files for IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover with the Steam Cloud.

If you have played this game from another computer, your game settings and/or progress may not be in sync with what is stored in Cloud. If you play the game now, you may lose these changes in progress.

'Play game' (button) 'Cancel' (button)

Is this a threat!?! Is STEAM purposely reducing our FPS because we haven't gone 'online' and 'synced' with them?

Ilya, 'Cloud' is an interesting 'marketing phenomenon' coupled with our very friendly people at STEAM. You may think you have saved 'time, security and money' by signing-up with these companies. I am starting to feel you have made a big mistake!

DON'T BREAK WHAT YOU ALREADY HAD SUCCESSFULLY WITH IL-2 STURMOVIK

I don't think Steam has anything to do with FPS.

Sounds like your PC couldn't connect to Steam Cloud to check and upload any personal settings changes made on another PC. Of course you may not have made any, or even used another PC, and it may be just a standard worded Steam message to let you know it can't connect. I assume you checked your internet connection is ok?

You can disable the Cloud setting if you are happy not to use another PC to play or happy that any changes elsewhere won't get fed back to your main PC. Many of us have done that (it's a synchronisation thing, nothing to do with Steam updates).

Open Steam and go to Library.
Right click on CoD and select Properties.
Select the Updates Tab.
Under 'Steam Cloud' untick 'Enable Steam Cloud synchronisation for IL-2 Cliffs of Dover'
Close

You'll see on that Tab that there is a separate selection for Automatic Updates so you haven't affected that. Leave that on 'Always keep this game up to date' unless you have a reason not to.

It doesn't answer why you got that message so if your internet connection was ok it must be something else and that's where I have to drop out.

Thanks for your detailed reply klem. I beg to differ that if you don't sync with 'Steam' it won't effect your FPS. As soon as I went online and opened 'Steam' I got the following message.

"Steam - Cloud sync conflict"
'!' Your local Il-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover files conflict with the ones stored in Steam Cloud.

Cloud files
Last modified Thursday, May 19, 2011 'Download to this machine' (button)

Local files
Last modified today 'Upload to Steam Cloud' (button)

'Cancel - don't copy anything new' (button)

Note: You'll have to choose one of the other two options above in order to play the game.

I pressed 'Upload to Steam Cloud' (button) to fulfill the threat, then immediately went into the game (staying online) and flew the missions I had been working on today. All missions ran at 70-90FPS without a problem???
I don't like the 'standard worded Steam messages'. I think the 'Steam' middlemen that we are working with are an unecessary burden on trying to get this flight sim working properly.

After a longer break I gave CloD another try. I didn't even get to test the fps over land and cities, I hit exit right after watching the stupid UFO AI do 50-60 barrel rolls. I still feel robbed. drop me a line when it's playable.

...I was so looking forward to this game

Which is perhaps that in MP the map builders make fighters behave like bombers or novices ...
