Than restarted, not sure if they did a PC re-boot, and it ran much better. I wonder of those people how many, like me, deleted the cache prior to the 1st run? Who knows all I know is it ran much better the 2nd time I started the game.. Which only goes to show how complex modern game software is and how one little thing out of wack can make or break you experance.. With that said, it is not too suprising that some of the hard core people who had problems in the past are 'still' having problems post patch.

Small graphics error:

In the Bf109 (E3 and E4) the throttle cable has a "transparent" texture. The same for the cable retaining the hood behind the pilot's head.

Shadow flickering from trees appears worse than before and quite off putting . Also there is no longer a terrain bump map which previously added to the realism of the landscape. There is a slight improvement in FPS, but at what cost? I wonder if SpeedTree is the cause of a lot of the problems here with this sim, with so many trees to cope with and the tree movement (dynamics) to calculate, and individual shadows it must put quite a burden on the CPU.

I can still see the horizon through the control panel.
It was like this before the beta patch and it's still like that.

The image is zoomed, so you can see it clearer.

Why dont they either turn off shadows for the tree's or stop them waving about, pretty sure that would stop the flickering.

I seem to be landing now at 60 mph and still to fast for the grass runway, and took more than the whole field to stop. Spit 1a. Hawking.

Also I can destroy 109's and 110's by ramming them and no damage to my plane.

This was on line.

Gun sight Revi visable outside cockpit.

I took screen shots and nothing in my user screen shots folders.
this is from my fraps screen shots.

Just wanted to bump this little gem. Looks like good advice to follow.

The official/final patches are automatically handled by Steam, but when installing an alpha or beta there's some more legwork involved to make it work properly. Here's what i do:
1) Verify file integrity through Steam: This makes sure i have the correct files for the latest official version, ie the one before the optional patch.
2) Defragment game files through Steam.
3) Go inside my documents\1c softclub\Il2 CoD\cache folder and delete all files within it and the shaders subfolder.
4) Extract the optional patch into the sim's main directory (if prompted to overwrite existing files, choose "yes").
5) Run the sim and wait for it to rebuild the cache i deleted with the correct files for the new version.
6) Run a quick mission and fly around for a couple of minutes to "force" it to load anything it might need to load.
7) Exit the sim.

From that point on, it's safe to launch the sim again, test and fly. I've been following this routine through all the Beta patches and each one has been an improvement for me.

Sound bug, constant looping machine gun fire in the BF109 E1.
