Hi all,
The current control system for bomber gunnery is far too complicated and makes them basically useless. I know the devs wanted to make the gun use hard to discourage online use, but to be honest this is rubbish. A very enjoyable part of IL-2 for me and I'm sure many others was to defend against enemy fighters from the gunnery positions. IL-2's use of the mouse to aim was perfect and made bomber defence on and offline an excellent experience. Please consider a patch to enable a similar control system to IL-2 so that this facet of the sim is enjoyed by many flyers. |

Anyway, more bugs: Graphical corruption on multiplayer map Islands of Doom... Visible seam on the water, blue box on the horizon, green line near island: ![]() Big blue landmass-like blobs: ![]() Blue and green bars through island and water: ![]() ![]() ![]() In addition, every single flight except the one I took the lead of crashed into mountains during their flight, some immediately after takeoff and some mid-mission, due to the sharp terrain and their inability to react to it in any way whatsoever...they didn't even attempt to avoid it, just augered in blindly - in total one flight of Blenheims, one huge flight of He 111s, and two flights of 109s, one of which I spawned myself to see if they'd do it again: ![]() ![]() Jurassic Park maps + *really* stupid AI = shenanigans. ![]() Settings all on full except Forest at Medium and Buildings Amount at Low, at 1280x1024 8xAA. System specs in my sig, video drivers ATI Catalyst 11.3, all settings on application specified in Catalyst Control Center except for Mipmap Detail Level on High Quality and Catalyst AI on Standard, but I will try again shortly with Catalyst AI disabled to see if this has any effect on game performance or visual glitches. On ground, when taking off (tried it offline with a Spit 2a with the quick mission where one can take off from an RAF airfield to cross the channel and online in a Tigermoth on a server set up by a friend. Both times the same issue):
One wheel seems to stick deeper in the ground than the other making the wings very unlevel - considerably unlevel. It seems to occur particularly on the right wheel (Tiger Moth and Spit) but cannot exclude that other wheel is concerned too. ![]() I have some doubts about the artificial horizon of the Spit 2a. Not sure if it works as it indicates most of the time a steeply inclined horizon even when I fly considerably level. Does the ground texture when having gras turned off also this dreadful look for you? Last edited by 41Sqn_Stormcrow; 04-02-2011 at 05:14 PM. |

Disabling Catalyst AI has no effect, still the same graphical glitches. One of the huge group of He 111s survived this time though by turning aside!

moving waypoints doesn't work all the time in FMB (a restart of the FMB + reload of the mission is needed to "fix" it).

*In the FMB English Channel map, I can't see any airfields, even with the 'show all' option selected.
I can see bridges, but no airfields. *Also, my plane was shot up from behind by enemy aircraft, but I heard no strikes on my plane. I only knew I had been damaged by looking at the port wing. *Ai speech needs work. They all talk over each other, even on take off. *Several graphical glitches as noted in other posts. *Intermittent music on the title screen. *The player can taxi through trees without taking damage. *Ai ignores all commands in quick mission mode. *Two thin verticall lines as reported by others. *I don't know if this is a bug, but the BF109 doesn't seem to have elevator trim. The plane continually pitches up quite violently, and there is nothing that I can do to fix it. The British planes seem fine. |

Some minor bugs and glitches (not a priority right now I'd say).
Sorry, these occured during night flight (some glitches related to this as they only get visible there), so it might a bit difficult to see. I highlighten it with red colour markings where necessary. first: when mirror is on there is no shimmering on the front side window of the spit. If mirror is switched off, shimmering appears on the front side windows. See following 2 images. The side concerned is a function of the cockpit light side. If lights on right side are turned on shimmering is on the right sight, if left light, shimmer is on left side. Noted on Aircraft Spitfire 2a mirror turned on --> no shimmer ![]() mirror turned off --> shimmer ![]() A glitch exists for the Spit 2a: the red lights in the cockpit on the right side shine through the cockpit side walls (sorry imagehacks compresses the quality further to almost make it unrecognizable. But I asure you that ingame it really sticks out): ![]() A bug occured during this same mission (online, Vulcain island map). Some pilots were hanging in the air as if in an aircraft but without an aircraft. Sorry for bad picture quality. It was really dark out there: ![]() Another minor thing that is a bit itchy: the reflextor light at night as extreme red shimmer for the spit 2A, at least when in flight. I didn't realize this while on ground. Pressing the button to reduce reflector light only produced a complete turning off of the reflector light. So no dimming was possible. I did not try to increase the light. ![]() As already somebody noted I also got stars shining through every part of the plane (but not so the moon that is for my taste too small). It would be nice to be able to switch on navigation lights and landing lights and ask ground control to light up the airfield for the future. Unfortunately it is also not yet possible to record tracks. Well, at least I haven't found that control in the keybindings. Would be nice to have this in the future. I recently had a small FM issue: I lost my left wing tip and left aileron in my 109 after a collision. I'd say that half a meter was lacking. However the effect on plane behaviour was almonst not noticable. A very very weak drop tendency of the left wing. The roll moment due to the engine is well stronger. No difficulty to land this plane safely. ![]() On the black line issue: I have the faint impression that it is in fact some sort of cursor marking as one would get when writing into the chat line ... I bailed out last night and the chute appeared to be filled with helium, it took me forever to hit the drink.
I've only bailed out once, but going on that one time, I think the rate of descent is far too slow. |
