590 is a SLI card and has the same limitations. The ultimate solution today is aiming at 2 or 3 gtx580 with 3GB vram each in SLI. But in 6 months things will be much different as usual.

I also use a 560ti with 1 Gig although mine's an Asus. I also run with everything on maximum and get smooth frames. I have vsync on as I find that stops the props flickering and over the sea I am mostly getting 60fps overland 40 fps upwards and over London mid to high 30s or more.

Flyby,
SDD and ramdisk won't help CoD if you already have enough internal memory (>= 4Gb) and the stutters are largely game engine (and sometimes sound) related. A faster cpu or one with more than 4 cores currently does not help much. A core i5 2500 (or AMD equivalent) is more than enough for this game right now. A fast video card however seems to help a lot, especially with all things turned on (grass and roads, high land shading etc, etc). This seems one of those games that eats video mem. like no other game before. 1 Gb can be enough, but if you can buy a card with 2 Gb for a few euro's more, I'd choose that one. Rgs, FP

What about CLOD bogs your system down, especially those with the 560Ti? Smooth frames over London, with how many aircraft?
Fall_Pink, how can a 1gb GPU be enough if this sim is VRAM hungry? I'm not clear on what you mean. Are you suggesting that some options have to be set to a lower level? I'm asking what aspects of gameplay are hardest on VRAM. I used to think something like flying low over London at high speed might bring things to a crawl. But of course I'm just guessing. Meanwhile the AMD 6970 still looks good to me, thanks all for the great feedback! ![]() Flyby out

1 Gb is enough if you don't set graphic options to very high/orginal but just to high and lower some other stuff. Buildings details, roads and grass should also be lowered or turned off, but even then CoD still looks very good. If you like to have all graphicoptions turned on and set to max, I'd recommend a fast 2 Gb vid card, 4 to 6 Gb ram and a reasonably high end quad core cpu e.g. i5 2500 or AMD equiv. Rgs, FP

Thanks for the clarification. I suppose even a fast GPU with 2gb of VRAM doesn't have much headroom left when running CLOD with most vram-hungry options set very high (even with a very good CPU and 6gb of system ram)?
