I played yesterday with a bunch of guys on realistic mode, however the target lock on or enemy tracking feature leads to bad habbits IMHO if your a sim player.. Even though I was playing realistic, I still did not use the left trigger to lock on or focus on the enemy, I stuck with the sim way and used R3 toggle as I know if i get used to using the left trigger I will try it in sim and that is not what i want to do I already had to break that habbit LOL....

So anyway, lets hear your reasons...

I have tryed arcade mode a couple of time at the beginning, and i didn't liked it. I don't like arcade games in general.

Realistic mode is better than arcade but is not very far from it, having an arrows that tells you where is the enemy and a map on screen.

I prefer playing simulator because i feel like more realistic than any other game mode. I know il2 just a game so i take it as it is, i'm not expecting a full realistic experience from this game but it's more fun playing that way.

HAVE FUN!

I just unlocked Sim, it was hard for me because I forgot all about the map and as I said before I was always losing my instructor, but I was able to finish this time.

Now you'll see how "easy" it was for pilots in an I-16 to land... which was the cause of most I-16 pilots deaths... just saying.

I prefer sim myself but it is cool to see your plane in 3rd person view sometimes.usually i just kick back with my gamepad so it can be more relaxing for me since i cant fly for shit with a game pad on sim.i know what your thinking popey "i can't fly with a stick either". It's relaxing that is unless i'm getting a severe ass kicking from a realistic hotshot.

Funny you guys mention the vision issues. I started out plying sim on a 64" Rear projection TV and did Horrible.. moved to the other room with a 24-27" normal TV non HD and improved dratically on a TV 1/3 the size LOL

i also use the game pad as my flightstick took a poop after 3 days of use

In sim I can use my flaps and trim to fly the plane better than in realistic. I can use boom & zoom tactics with my Mustangs and Butcherbirds more effectively. When im playing realistic i realise im shooting at red squares rather than at planes and it anoys me that the zoom button switches to the X button so I have to take my thumb off the rudder to use it. Oh and in sim its posible to lose someone off your 6 and if you get someone to overshoot you, you get the advantage as they have often lost sight of you and don't know which way to turn, while in realistic he can just follow the homing arrows.

Basicly in Sim the skill of a player has more influence than in realistic. Doing well in sim is less down to using the best planes, which is the case in realistic.
I like sim because I get to shoot at pope. The best satisfaction for anyone on sim on the 360 is making bucket the first kill of a deathmatch

Honestly though, I think that a kill is too easy in realistic but in sim, to shoot down pope or brickster or any of these people takes alot of effort and for this reason, you don't get a kill on sim, you earn it, making sim far more rewarding. There are lots of reasons why, it's a pain to find your enemy, You also have to look around, find them, watch your rear, all while preventing spins and stalls, but all this leads to fighting for a kill. When you finish a 20minute game when the winner got 3 kills, you know it's been a hard faught battle. Also, from what I've seen on sim,on the xbox, the usuals are a friendly bunch to chat to and a good laugh but utterly cut throat competetive at the same time.
