I'm storming through main human campaign, and it's a great fun, especially that now I have more knowledge how to play after demo for the last three days xP
. Hey, Zamolxis, check this game, I assure that noone can actually like the Inquisition guy here, an arrogant *** Few things though - there are not that many upgrades/units as I'd expect, dwarves+elves are not separated, and I've found that enemy is strangely merciful to my units, I mean I attacked some unit with heavy losses, and neighbouring enemy unit instead finishing me off skips it's turn, mainly while garrisoning cities. I suppose logic dictates AI to preserve strenght, but really, it helps a lot to player. Nevermind, maybe later on it'll get harder. And where are dragons???? |

Can anyone explain the point of the gold/silver/bronze victory to me? What is the point of this in the full game?
I love strategic games like CIV, Master of Orion, Heroes of Might and Magic and such. Fantasy Wars seem interesting (I have played the demo a couple of times). Still i HATE timelimits in these kind of games. I want to plot out a path to victory by surviving/fighting until the bitter end. I do NOT want to be rushed to meet a time limit. If one wants the game to be harder, then throw in more enemies, dont put in an arbitrary time limit please. When I play, I will usually up the difficulty until I lose most of the time. The victories is then ten times sweeter So, can anyone with the full game tell me how this works in Fantasy Wars? |

Well there is only turns limit in the full version of the game. But this limit is presented not in all missions, there just some of them, where this limit is used. As for gold/silver/bronze, this is the rating that you get according to the amount of turns you made during the mission. In the demo version if you did'nt met the bronze level, you lose, but in the full version such feature isn't implemented.
Thank you for your question. |

Basically, to rush blood in Your veins (like playing chess online with 5m time limit
So for me clearing of the whole map is a priority, but with that in mind I'm lifting my challenge by trying to keep up to get silver (easily) or gold (BOY it's haaaaard Sorry for looong post |

Played through 6 missions on human campaing, nice game but weird unit balance.
Knights and heroes are godly top tier, heavy armor and charge means walking through poor orcs. Heroes tank a bit worse but seem to be able to die with no penalty except main hero. Ballista ranks second, especially after a couple levels with upgrades to 4 speed and 4 range meaning ability to tag anything 8 squares away with huge damage. Piercing armor also helps, not only that but it tanks better than archers too, likely wont survive cavalry charge but is fine after 3-4 hits from archers. Then rangers are pretty average damage and tanking, but have lots of nice bonuses, no retaliation, +4 in forest, fast with 5 speed and no water penalty (with proper levelups of course), harass status effect, fear effect. Great to take some unimportant 20coin village, tag orcs garisoning it for 3-4 damage, repeat 2-3 times till they run away, go in and run to next village, not so great in big fights. Then there's archers, which are inferior to ballista in every way though i guess I'd keep a couple in army because there seem to be 3-4 orc bombers on every map. Yes, they can cower other units on computer turn but with that low damage it doesn't make much difference. Only 2 range and low tanking means fast death, good thing computer AI goes gentle on them, usually doesnt target them if you dont leave them alone out in the open. Infantry, ugh, pikemen/yeomen are like weaker and slower rangers and retaliation means they become unusable after 2-3 fights, halberdiers seem to be meant against cavalry but 3 speed! Swordsmen are just plain lousy and orc infantry doesnt seem too impressive either. Air units, both human and orc, just horrible. Description says to finish weakened units but they're bad even at that AI could be better too, plays much too defensive, for example almost always garisons towns even when its not benefitial for it, makes some bad mistakes like stepping into river sometimes, but at least seems better than most games. Another weird thing, between fights all units get restored to full for free. Wounded I can understand, but I'd expect to pay for new recruits. |

Hehe, I see that it all down to personal style... Halberdiers ROCK. Give them some river-walking artifact or few bonuses and they cut through horses (shielding from cavalry by negate charge, seriously, I don't know why swordsmen are able where one can get Halberdiers
Cavalry is nice, but situational, I'm fond of light cavalry though It all depends on Your style mate I say But it must be said - AI is way overprotective, and sometimes my soft units can survive thanks to that. Some agressiveness bonus please for the patch EDIT Quote:
Anyway, I simply like this game |
