They´re flap indicators.
"Flap position on Spitfires is fully UP or DOWN only, the only indication being two small doors on the upper surface of each wing which are spring loaded flush. These are pushed open by each actuator as the flaps go down, which they do very quickly".

Meusli,

I found a work-around for the more computer equipment one: get a good case and just keep updating the innards...
I've done two complete upgrades in the last 5 years without my wife knowing
So long as I keep using the same case I don't think she'll ever suspect anything...

I did have to do the whole sales-job thing to get a new monitor though...
