Avro_UK,

what kind of camera did you use for those pictures ?

having lived in Kent for 6 yrs, and done the channel crossing probably around a 50x in all weather and seasons, i have never seen the channel water look as invitingly tropical light blue as it did from some of the initial water shots you posted (looking down on the water from the high cliffs)

the times i have flown over it in an aircraft it also would look more dark and grey, the same as the closer to the water visuals you get from the ferries or coastal roads, but in the aircraft this would obviously have been for significantly higher altitude then the cliff height shots you just posted now.

i'd hate to have Oleg create a tropical channel water color after all his hard work, instead of the cold and somewhat menacing grey colour it has during most times of the year that i remember.

1000 yards = about 900 meters
300 meters = about 1000 FEET not yards.
