Spot on! But I'm afraid we'll just see limited human activity due to the sheer amount of work required to generate the required animations. What we really need is procedural animation which doesn't require manual keyframing/mo-cap for each animation:

With an engine like this and 'intelligent' characters that react automatically to the external events, there'd be no end of "OMG did that just happen?".

Some of the greatest moments in IL2 are the results of aircraft AI automatically reacting to the environment and situations. This engine provides the same for human characters.

Every bailout would be unique depending on airspeed, g-forces, aircraft attitude etc.

Wing riding ground crew wouldn't have to be specifically keyframed to do that with different animations for each aircraft's wing. Imagine hitting the brakes and watching the wing rider fall off the front of the wing. Even better, wait for someone to climb on and then power up suddenly. Bonus points for tricking the guy into hanging on while you take off

Human characters wouldn't just be puppets going through the motions of their programmed keyframes; they'd have a sense of self-preservation. Jumping away from the prop if you don't warn them with a 'clear!' before starting the engine. Seeking bomb shelters on seeing diving bombers or hearing the air raid siren.

This stuff isn't idle pie in the sky musing. There's already a few games using this technology. Look up Euphoria Engine from NaturalMotion on YouTube.

I don't pretend to understand all the challenges involved in implementing such technology in a flight sim using today's technology but I sure hope we won't have to wait another ten years for the next version of IL2 to get this.

I would like, when i fly over a some little town or a city, will have some little interference in the radio and listen some music, or listen enemy channel. And to interact since my fighter whit another group of fighters or bombers planes. also would be fine a conversations between your 2° and 3° wings of spitfires formation.

S!

FWIW, it's not really a Holy Sh1t! experience, but in my real-world flying, one thing that gives me the shivers is popping above an overcast layer to find myself between two 8/8 layers. It really is the most otherworldly experience I've ever had.

You might also consider adding in the brocken spectre, which I've been fortunate enough to see on a few occasions:

I can appreciate that it probably wouldn't be too easy to get the effect just right though.

You might also consider the green flash, I've never seen it, but I'm told it's spectacular from 30,000 feet.

I didn't know there was a name for this. I saw my own 'brocken spectre' once when freefalling over a cloud layer. Neatest thing was when I fell right through it. Awesome experience!

Ilya, if you're still reading this-

look to some of the well-made user made campaigns that are out there for IL2:1946 for ideas on how to "break the monotony"

Spotting a U-Boat and seeing it Submerge, or for that matter seeing it Surface. An Ambulance that roars out across the field with a siren screaming to meet a stricken aircraft that is coming in smoking. Static figures for user made missions that look like they are in some action; Officer with Binoculars, man pointing, loader with ammo belt, all placeable at various levels for tops of buildings (tower), wings, etc..

A visit from royalty...unexpected of course, for security reasons.

Hi,

as already said, mechanical failures would be great (random and damaged induced), but the mission success/failure must be adapted: sometimes it's already a big success to come back alive (especially during bob)

a few suggestions:
Some historical anecdotic facts during briefings/debriefs are usually an easy way to improbe immersion IMHO/

bird strike and freezing conditions in altitude causing trouble is a great idea !

bail out: make it possible to decide when to open the chute

Is oxygen cunsumption modeled at high altitude ? Kaboom, a hit in the oxygen tank and you'd better dive an max Vz not to collapse

-search and rescue mission objective bonus would be great: a wingman is shot above sea, and you orbit a while to help recovery by SAR

- if IFF and radar is modeled: identification errors , with ground control asking you to check, friend fire accidents with fighters or flak....

just a few ideas, the project seems already great !!

Ships making evasive movments when being attacked.

An enemy plane that's just kicked your ass flying up along side, giving you you wave and then peeling off and letting you live.

landing gear collapsing unexpectedly. or tire blowing out.

radio quits working and all you get is static.

Night fighting missions.

bird hits.

Adding in other flights which are not in the breifing. both friendly and enemy. Ground movements which are not in the briefing.

IL2 has always had that feature to request permission to take off and to land. which I'd be willing to bet most players never use. How about for these folks when the mission starts there are other aircraft on the field taking off in front of them or landing in front of them. Its single player so when he gets killed pulling on to the active runway he can restart.

For the fighter pilots, when the go to click on next mission, instead of it going to a briefing screen and aircraft selection, they hear and air raid siren and find them self in the cockpit scrambling to get off the ground maybe even under fire.
