Argl ... I made a long post and got logged off T___T
Ok .. once again

So .. FW is a great game, a real successor of Fantasy General (FG) with some improvements and some.. things missing

Graphics are good but they are too generic. I've played too many games with orcs and elves ... Anyway they're well made.

Sounds : they are good. Not really something to say about this.
Musics : fairly good .. but .. as a personnal taste.. I miss the old "classical" music of FG that made the time stopped ...

Gameplay : easy to learn how to handle units, no misclik or "Damn I moved that archer instead of selecting that griffon". The customizations of units on level up is THE main addition to FG. And a really good one. It should add some tactical openings .. like the bird that can scare the enemies that are within it. Excellent way of adding tactics easily. One thing that I can't stand after playing too much Supreme commander : we are forced to stay too close to our units. I would like a camera that can zoom out really far away. the Supcom strategic zoom is just so good ...

Pros : a good game, with a lot of tactics involved. Why not adding some strategic elements? In a campaign why not add the research function FG had? Every elements taken from Fg was well made. the customization of units is so good and spells are a great addition.
Cons : I really miss the customized general of FG ... like the arch mage that could cast a spell each turn or the captain that had cheaper cavalry units.

Conclusion : a really great game. Love it ... keep up the good work.

Cheers.

I've been playing for a couple weeks, and I think this game is very well done. Nothing is perfect, and certainly FW could be improved, but, overall, it's quite impressive. I love the tactical possibilities, which are greatly enhanced by the way in which terrain functions within the game. And the AI seems to be significantly more capable than in most games--altho this may be, in part, a function of the relatively low number of units and relatively small maps. Nevertheless, it's fun to play against an AI which seems to look for any mistakes you make and to exploit them ruthlessly.

I've seen a number of criticisms of the graphics, but I can't help but wonder what such people want. I think the graphics are wonderful, and greatly add to one's enjoyment of the game. I also read someone's opinion that the perks are useless--this is just silly. The increased capabilities conferred thru the perks greatly boost units' combat effectiveness.

The only significant gripe I have is the lack of a random map generator. I'd really like to see this in a patch or add-on.

I've got the old FG music files somewhere on my network, I wonder if we could import them into FW?
