S!

Visually Cliffs Of Dover is nice, even we still have a lot of IL-2 legacy(clouds, pop-ups etc.). The sound is what bothered me most. You sit behind a 1030hp Merlin engine and it sounds like a Briggs&Stratton found on a lawn mower?! Also the switch sounds were louder than the engine sounds. Many of you have read or even heard WW2 pilots telling that the cockpit was a noisy office where other sounds were muffled by the roar of the engine.

External sound is straight from original IL-2, which is a dissapointment. And there was no difference in sound levels with cockpit open or closed, not even when the guy popped his head out. Should be quite a deafening experience don't you think?

The buggy Hurricane just makes wonder what other things lurk there, but for sure will be ironed out with time. Will get this game, but seems have to wait a bit for it to be more mature.

We all should have a pragmatic approach to the bugs and to the lack of optimization of certain aspects. We should ask ourselves the question "what is the alternative?", namely to rushing out the game today.

Oleg explained in an interview in 2009 that the project budget was to be depleted by December 2010. Missing the deadline would have possibly meant the cancellation of the project. Not all projects succeed, you know. No BoB, bye bye, back to Il2 (or jets ... Bleah! Or hell-icopters ... Double Bleah! )

IMO it is largely preferable to have the game rushed out and bugs ironed out progressively with the wider community feedback, and with some fresh cash to finance the developers team, rather than continuing the development for months and months and doing beta test with a handful of volunteers. Or, worst, canceling the project.

Personally, I will be glad to give my money to the devs, contribute to the polishing by reporting constructively bugs, and in the end enjoy all the marvelous things that Oleg and Ilya prepared for us. I expect to have a great time with CoD!

Cheers,
Insuber

I'm just gutted to see the usual suspects of IL2 appearing after so much development time.

Why are there still the 'straight-line' breaks? Why don't the wings tear at different points? I don't expect the game to have hundreds of break points, but maybe a jagged diagonal tear on the wings would be more interesting than the IL2 usual straight-line break. Even if they add a little bit of fluff to the edges now.

Disappointing and hardly an improvement over other websites adaptions to an old IL2 engine.

I do feel I will buy this at some point in the future, but I now worry that we could be looking at a SH5 scenario and that is not good for any future of the Sim.

Just watched the video....was impressed apart from the big Blue Square and then tragedy!!!!!!! 4m and 42 seconds, external view!

So much interesting internal cockpit audio, well above the stock IL2 (10-year-old IL2!!!) and then like a Tomahawk Missile in Libya, the external audio makes an appearance and gives you a sucker punch to the head!

OMG!!!!

Why after so-much time have they left the IL2 audio there?

Oh boy I'm actually going to whine a bit here . I'm still not 100% convinced on the "it's an all new sim" line, there's still too many IL-2 left overs in CoD for my liking. Sounds, AI, FM. I guess I'll make my own judgement when I get the game in 3 days. I thought I'd pull the pin when the epi issue blew up but I can't resist the need to have this sim. I'm so confused as a paying customer right now.

The first video is great and the wingless Hurri bug will get a few laughs in the Maddox games offices. Luthier said the project had even funnier stuff happen during the development. They obviously have a sense of humor and will need it, if they read these forums.

So what did their beta testers actually do? No one can honestly believe that something as obvious as this can be overlooked... Lets all pray that no game tester has yet recieved a copy or they can stop pressing copies right away cause the reviews will be devastating.
