But there is no dedicated s/w yet for a server, so you have to host it through the game menu.

LeadFarm might be the best to ask how to set a nice one up, as he has that 24/7 one at the moment with the English Channel map.

The realism settings you want for the server are set from the game menu options. It just carries over into the server.

Setting a server up in-game is a doddle. Just go to mulitplayer, sever, select map, and start battle.
Will you be required to purchase 2X to host a dedicated server at a colo as well as your copy at home?? Anyone know??

Looking forward to fly this sim online with you people.

Good idea to turn the 2 hands thing off. The problem with that is that even on quality equipement you always have some slight movement. So, if you have a throttle quadrant or whatever, there's always a small detection of movement that the computer detects and the sim sees it too which result in 2 hands already used for the sim.

Middle East, so that's why we don't see you flying online anymore lately. When will you be back?

Hi Riksen!! It has been a heck of a long time How you been? We've been using this thing for ROF for a while now just waiting for the chance to fire it up for the new IL2

///Back on topic ///

I set the launcher options in steam to "-server" and it came up with a DOS screen. I downloaded the missions oxygenthief placed on the forums (thank you!) And it seems if we had some sort of read-me the dedicated server part would work.

type in "help" to get commands or the "?". It seems that "missLoad" is the command to fire up a mission. It also seems that all the missions that the dedicated software look for are in the Documents/1c SoftClub folder.

Attached is a screenshot of what I've gotten so far trying it with my game install on the laptop:

As you can see, it's trying to load, but there are errors. If someone could figure out the commands or entries to put into the .config file or if **Hint Hint Luthier or someone from 1c could explain it to us** we should be golden, hopefully. Something for people to try anyways

The dedicated machine has 1000mbps (1 gig per second) upload/download bandwidth and is a 12 core xeon with 48 gigs of DDR3.

I'd gladly host something for you guys if A.) someone hooks me up with a mission and B.) tells me how to start the server software to do so. And when I mean tell me how (lol) I mean in the simplest of terms possible - IE - tell me what to change in the config/steam/the steps to start the dedicated software etc. I'm dealing with some pretty shoddy net, so when I'm remote connected to the machine it's a bear of a task to even type simple commands let alone problem solve.

If someone gives me a guide and a mission (preferably one with 128 players in mind, lots of AA,AI etc.) I'll host if for you.

Mind you - this will be full realism CEM on etc, no icons, but I will leave the 2 handed control option off as many have reported several bugs with it.

And yes it will be set to 128 human players.
Thanks, hope you can get it running, I use your ROF server and it is well configured for full settings gaming, if you could get something similar working with this it would be great.

Hi fellas. I think some of the guys are going to work on it tonight. It shouldn't take long to get the server up as the game is installed on the dedicated machine. We're gonna try to run the a mission kindly donated to us that includes the full BoB map.

I'll definitely let you guys know the IP when we've got the server and realism settings sorted out. (full realism minus the 2 handed controls) Hopefully we can get it going in a few hours at the latest.

Thanks
