I have a 5770 and I run water=0 also. You will only see white caps and such in bad weather, like blind or thunderstorms(maybe others but not sure). Have you tried testing it with blind weather condition?
I just prefer water=0 because I don't have time to admire "pretty" water while in combat. It is also a hit on fps and I want all the fps I can get when in heavy action. It is very simply "personal preference". If I am going to make a track to get some pretty pictures, then I will switch to water=2, otherwise I use water=0 for best fps and still good looking water. I agree with Flanker about effects=2. I challenge you to see a difference "in combat" from effects 0 to effects 2. Plus, 2 has been known to cause problems in certain situations. |

Effects=2 in Black Death track dropped FPS drastically. For example in the scene where the IL-2's bomb the convoy, normally it rarely dips below 50FPS, but with effects=2 to 20ish. Not worth it and Oleg has said it is a bugged and not recommended feature. I have now found the best setup for me that runs SMOOTH...will post the conf.ini after work. |

Hi everyone.
Through no fault of my own Been looking arround for the best settings for this card. The problem is that everyone seems to use differant confinis, the ones that works for them (naturally) I can get perfect graphics and good looking water and all that but what i also get is the blocky text in the proccess. Is there a specific fix for blocky text, or is it "on fix works for me, and one works for him" kind of deal? Edit: For ex. i tried your confini Flanker, and that didnt work, at all. |

Baron. The workaround for blocky text is to drop atioglxx.dll from Catalyst 9.10's to the IL2 folder. My conf.ini works on 5xxx, can't tell about 4xxx series. |

Are you sure you run in OpenGL and Perfect mode? If you can post a picture of the water? |

My idea also, my 4780 runs water=2 with no probs and more than enough frames
