Just a thought but, I know atleast 18 people on my Xbox 360 list that bought Il2 1946 in the last month because they loved the BOP demo, so I think that there will be a nice little flood of of noobs coming to il2 1946 in the next few months. I also know a lot of people who are buying it so they can play Canvas Knights when the AAA crew releases it. There are a lot of WWI fans out there that never got IL2 because they were still playing RD baron 3d or one of its mods.
Plus to be honest I don't see ROF taking off like people thought it would. Someone said Il2's comercial life is dead in the water and I just don't think its cold and rotting yet. I got a feeling it still has a few twitches left in it. If Daidalus is thinking the same thing then they know they will get some work sent their way down the road for doing this new patch. Even if they are doing it for "the love of the sim" They still know the exposure of this work can lead to new paying work opportunities. Hell we may even see them do some work on the next console Il2 ? if BOP does well. Then we have the future with SOW too. I'll say this too, I'm feeling pretty positive about the sime market over the next couple of years. DESODE |

I've been wondering how many more copies of 1946 are getting sold because of BoP. |

Thanks Team Diadalos for getting together and doing this. The fast degeneration of first few pages thread didn't block out the +'s .
I'm looking forward to night fighter, that'd be rawking. You have to appeciate the level of care that goes into IL-2. Take world of warcrack. They say they got 11 million subscribers. I'll give them 10 mil for this scenario. The game runs for $15 per month so technically WOW gets 150 million a month. That's alot for server fees (they do have servers in US timezones and european) but still not enough. And the devs throw out a patch here and there and a big new dungeon. But that is eclipsed by the quality that IL-2 has gotten. And I would rather have IL-2 community at my back during a firefight rather than the WOW community. Big props! (proper recognition not airscrew). FOR: ROF is a professional WW I . But they made a professional game release mistakes that will plague them, releasing too early, trying to do something like microtransaction marketing when the genra doesn't support it (both game genra and type of people they are catering to). And having a 2 planeset, I mean what if they came out with GTA 10 and you could only gank 2 cars, or Doom 10 and you only have a 2 weapons. I'm sorry you could get away with 2 choices in DOS games but not in 2009. And ROF multiplayer is like as if the game came out years ago when dial up was king and everyone was figuring out this multiplayer stuff. its '09 and you have to have a robust 32+ player online capability for game longevity. But they can fix ROF, the issues its gots aren't game breaking |

I must agree with you WWFlybert about RoF. Nice models and a good FM do not a complete simulation make.
I'm not well liked on the SimHQ RoF forum because I don't drink the Kool Aide and I call 'em like I see 'em. And the way I see it, RoF won't survive. I hope another publisher/developer picks up the pieces and develops it into a finished product, but that is a scant hope. It really is sad because I, and many others want a high quality WW1 flight sim, and I have strong doublts that Canvas Knights will be anything more than a poorly modeled, low quality arcade shooter game. SOW cannot get here fast enough.

@WWFlybert,can we put the off-topic aside please?
@Nearmiss,i'll be very happy if you can clear up this thread from the off-topic messages regarding other games and the modding for IL-2. DT would like this thread to be clean.Thanks. |

I do not like to clean up threads, because I don't have time to start at the beginning, read every thread. There is often viable content discussed and it could get deleted. No one likes their postings changed or have content deleted. They like it less when I extract content from their postings.
Create a new thread, in the first posting make it clear about postings you would like to allow, and discussion content that is helpful. I will sticky the thread for TD. |

Thank you for Stickying up the thread,Nearmiss.
To everyone else, please keep the thread clean from now on. Don't advertise mods or mod website through this thread, and don't discuss about other games here. If you want to discuss those things, there are proper forums that are up and serving for this job. This is not the forum, nor the thread for such discussions. Thanks. |

This thread is a prime example of why I just don't bother over here much anymore.
I still have much love for IL2, but this forum... |

My apologies.. also PM incoming to NM..
However..... my other post.. Quote:
Will not be edited.. at least not by me.. because from my understanding this is already in the sim but it was locked by Oleg & 1C because the rest of the sim was also locked..... it was not a *** so again... my thus far unanswered question to TD is... Can this feature be unlocked and added to part of the CEM scalability that is in the sim. Some of us have been flying this sim since .. what ... 01-02.. and it would be great to have the option to fine tune the CEM. |
