How about some of the tutorial.

I have to ask, I have seen oil splatter up on the screen in Third person Arcade but I haven't seen oil splatter on the canopy in first person, does this happen?

When you say first person, do you mean cockpit? if so the answer is Yes, if its your own oil it stays there permanantly but if its from a bomber infront of you it splatters on cockpit canopy and then washes away with the wind
