Actually...

On the "The Red Skies of Dover" mission, while I was just messing around, moziing along, barrel rolling, flipping, doing everything BUT the actual mission, not shooting at a single plane... Suddenly a prompt popped up saying mission clear, hit back to continue...

I am definitely hoping for a touch more challenge than that.

Yeah I hear ya, I think if you don't get to work right away your wigman will finish the job for ya. Well at least they aren't morons like in the ace combat series.

I was worried about this myself.

I believe it's only because they had only put the easiest missions in the demo and that is typically what you find in most demos.

I know there are different types of modes(arcade, real, sim) we can play from, but is there going to be more campaign options besides Difficulty and Lives?

I will more likely be caught shooting down noobs in multiplayer then playing the missions anyway. I'm getting a Dazzle DVD recorder for my Xbox so I plan on making short movies of IL2 soon on YouTube.

yes ive noticed that.

i was on sim mode on that level and after messing about for almost 40 minutes all the friendlies dissapeard (shot down) and i had about 3 109's chasing me around so i decided to land my bird in a field and after about 10 minutes a 109 just chrashed about 200 meters ahead of me.

Whether its something to do with fuel or they just crashed in an attept at shooting me, i dont know

Yes, I know what you guys mean. I was playing the first mission of the campaign and I could not concentrate because I was also busy with something else, I did shoot down a couple of bombers, though. Then I heard someone scream that the enemy bombers were coming through and that they're going to bomb the harbour if we don't do anything fast. I hurried to the harbour only to find out a crowd of bailed out pilots on chutes (??) and hardly any bombers.

I was like... where did they go? Were they shot down by AAA guns, or wingmen? I mean, is there any way to actually FAIL the mission? I do hope there is because I don't want the game to play itself, you know.

As for being shot down, I was at least once. The canopy was all like swiss cheese and the controlls no longer worked. I wanted to find an airstrip to land but went into an unrecoverable spin close to the ground. Splash.
