IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds Of Prey preview
July 7, 9:55 AM

One of the eye-catching titles from 1C Company's recent press event was the latest installment in the publisher's Sturmovik's series. It's a World War II-based flight combat game that features over 40 planes from Mustangs to Messerschmitts.

During our demo session, we were treated to expansive environments that included rolling hills, weathered skies, & textured towns. There was not much time to truly admire the surroundings as the dogfighting kept us busy. Even the battles were pleasing to the eye as shell-casings were emptied and bullet streams filled the air.

Birds Of Prey promises to be accessible to all types of flight game fans, as those who want a more arcade experience can toggle off the roll/pitch/yaw mechanic. Aside from the standard Dogfight mode, we were also informed of the three other multiplayer modes: Team Deathmatch, Ground Strike & Capture The Airstrip.

The single-player gamers can look forward to some engaging campaigns set in locales such as Sicily, Korsun & Berlin. You can also play out the Battle Of Britain and the Battle of Stalingrad with assignments including air-to-air combat, recon, intercept, & air-to-ground strikes.
