He also said he will look into Ubisoft making an official statement dissociating themselves with Maddox games on this title. If you wish to speak to Phil direct you can on this number 01932578000 press 0 for reception and then ask for Phil Brannelly, he is a very helpful guy and will answer all your questions. He didn't have great things to say about Oleg but that's another story.
That might explain the whole name change hints from Oleg... Ubisoft would have registered the name, as they are no longer publishers it might be held for something else.
It would be great if Oleg just came out and said it rather than all the cloak and dagger

If its true that UBI is no longer involved with SOW, then Lawyers could be involved. Which could be one of the reasons we have heard very little from the developer or (x)publisher.

James O'Reilly told me last year that Ubi were not involved, i posted the news here but got flamed for it as per usual. Phil, has gone into a lot more detail most of which i will not post here, only to say that according to Phil, Ubisoft are not at all happy with Oleg. This also explains why the website we were promised in December never appeared, Ubisoft own all the domain names to SOW, something which Phil found very amusing.
You may ask why have Phil and James given me so much info, well for a start i am fairly well connected due to my past work in the music industry and also my new business. However if some of you doubt what i have posted then please feel free to call any of these guys, but please note that James is currently at E3, but Phil is still in the UK.

Doubt they could register Battle of Britain or BoB so my guess is it will just start with a different title like Maddox Games - Battle of Britain but that is to cheesy???? It would have to be catchy like The Fighter Collection - Battle of Britain?
Ideas guys?
We need ideas.
Ps the other sim, Simhq were reffering to was Birds of Prey.
Uibisoft have a habit of dumping titles that fall way behind, look at the whole harpoon 4 fiasco!

Still begs the question, why is he so active over at simhq and not at this site? Has 1C abandoned the project as well?

Hey, if that was true then that would be kind'a interesting... But, I'm never quite sure if your serious or trying to be provocative. I have seen you lure others into your flame threads of despair.

On the topic of the name, "Storm of War"...I'm not sure that this was ever the official name for the game. I remember a post that Oleg left at the "Zoo" (quite some time ago) when he proposed a possible contest for the "Best game title" for the new series. That would indicate to me that he had reservations about using that name from the beginning. I think he posted that message around the time that the "IL2 1946" DVD came out...

Really? Because UBI is p*ssed by Oleg, they don't launch the website? That doesn't explain it to me, honestly.

To me, it's much more reasonable, that there is no website because there is nothing to show or say definitely about a game that is most likely to be released in more than 12 months ahead.

I don't doubt at all about what you posted about the phonecall, but I have doubts that it's the full and only truth and I doubt the conclusions you are drawing from it. That's all. There is no official information on that, neither from UBI nor from Oleg. If they are no longer involved, why would it be such a top-secret stuff he told you? Why not share the details with us? It's really an invitation to doubt.

And I most honestly doubt, that it will make any difference, anyway.
Infact, if Oleg has no longer a contract with UBI (e.g. because the contract was only about the old engine - one more reason why they switched to a new one?), he's probably even more cautious releasing information about game-contents, release-details and ingame-shots.

So, if the background of what you say is true, Tree, that would be an overwhelming reason to stop bashing Oleg and demanding updates.

The lawyers were involved a while back with IL2 Pacific fighters debacle, word was UBIsoft bailed out 1c Team financially with pay off's to the suing companies (Grunman law suits), this is probably the reason for "Ill feeling" with the respective companies.

To be honest I don't see what all this digging around achieves, it simply creates more speculation.

@ Tree what's the name of your "music" company ?

For Proton, simple answer, use the phone number provided and then report back.

For Alpha, your right, the digging around proves nothing, But some people here are still convinced Ubisoft are involved, sometimes you have to go these measures to show otherwise.

I dont have a music company, i was a professional drummer signed to a label back in the nineties. I now have a Computer company that builds custom overclocked PC's.

.
Well those that were around when the Pacific Fighters & Grunman issue was at it hight would have had a clue maybe 1c & Ubi weren't getting along, and knew they wouldn't be in on this project.

Also

I only hope the "distro" is done right this time and a global release date is implemented and the software is not delayed.

Last few releases have had piracy come along to fill the gaps, the Hyperlobby was full of people asking for torrent downloads, the Europeans release date was weeks ahead of the US/CAN this encouraged many to download the game and get back flying again on the same version as everyone else. (Im not accusing any US/CAN fliers of piracy there were some who had the game sent to them from squad mates etc )

Once this trend sets in it becomes habitual and some are brazen enough to admit to never buying a single IL2 series disc.

So I don't care who is distributing it so long as its done globally to maximize Olegs profits for the work he done with 1c Team

It would be a good idea that they release a demo for the new title.

This will silence the pirates who like to "try before I buy" and give an indication of system specs etc etc.
