You have to meddle little bit with the camer zoom - when your camer is directly above that fecne - you can't effectively click on that fence door, as in your way is the upper wood (which is of course inactive - the game makes this wood translucent - but it still hinders you mouse pointer from opening that door.
So just rotate your camera little bit, you will see that the mouse cursor will change to "use" and than the door to the two hyenas will open.

It can be opened, I have 1.6b7 version and finished this quest always

Where the heck can i find a cyclops to purchase to complete the academy's quest?
i just completed the kordar main quest, needing to go to elves land yet, and from previous posts, i read that cyclops can be purchased at kordar, creistein mines or western island, but after going all 3 places, i dun see a single cyclops available except those to be killed

Its a matter of luck i guess. In my game, i only have 1 site that sell cyclops in low quantity. So if you really search all of kordar and didn't find them then hard luck. But i think it may still possible to find them in the elf land or labyrinth.

they are avaible after u do an quest in the unded areas outside dwarfland. the collect 6 bones thing.

the skeleton transforms to an trader and in my game he had 40 cyclops for sale.
