The wood made plane discusion was about the Hurri not the spit IIRC.
Sorry for the OT but, it s all about "enterteinig the crow" :g rin:
There is a certain member, I believe XylonX who proposed that Oleg Maddox make a wooden Spitfire. My guess is that the illustration he posted had the interior colors as brown instead of British grey-green which caused confusion.

Oleg said something like, "Close that book and never open again (in somewhat broken Rusglish)".

I know with 99% certainty that XylonX did say "Oleg Maddox why spitfire not have TUBE LAUCHER (sic)".

More lols ensued.

I wouldn't say, 'kill him', he maybe is just singing the wrong song! Just now, DT is not working on a non-axis night fighter plane (DT is currently busy almost exclusively with putting 4.12 into the box). But maybe a single member is doing this in a private manner, as it happend a few times already and plans to surprise us all together.

However, if nightfighter scenario gets more into shape, it will probably be a bit one-sided without a proper allied counterpart to Bf110G-4 and such.
Best candidate would be the Mosquito or the Beaufighter, wasn't it?

And agree, the Mosquito would be the best choice.

Mosquito would be the more popular and prolific night fighter. The Beaufighter was very successful early on but the Mosquito had more performance potential.

Whenever you read about Allied night-fighter kills over Europe it's definitely the Mosquito that was involved.

... in plan on allied side NF is Mossi with radar type MKIV.
Beaufighter no.

I'll pile onto the people asking for the Mosquito. In terms of numbers built, successful use in the role, etc., it was a very important night fighter type, although it's more than a match for the Bf-110G-4 NJ.

If you want a U.S. type based on planes already in the game, you could include the P-70 Havoc, the F4U-2 (or F4U-4N) or the P-38M.

The Soviets could use the Pe-3 or Yak-9 nightfighter variants. The Italians could use the Re.2001 CN.

If you wanted to make the Luftwhiners squeal with delight, you could consider adding the Heinkel He-219 Uhu to the game. If you're just wanting to do conversions of existing planes, the Bf-109 and Ju-88 NJ variants would make solid mates to the Bf-110.

Sadly, the P-61 Black Widow, the one night fighter that every U.S. player wants will never be in the game. Damn you Northrop Grumman!
