Is it possible for ricochets to be modeled or is it not possible with the engine?

Regardless of whether richochets can be modeled, I'm not sure they'd add that much to the game due to the relatively simple damage models for ground objects.

About the only time I've heard of richocheting bullets intentionally being used to attack foes is when bullets are "skipped" off water or hard ground so that they "bounce" into the side of a lightly armored boat or the underside of an armored vehicle.

Since there are lots of variables you have to get just right (angle of attack, compressibility of the surface, bullet drop) and whatnot, it's probably more of a shooter's legend than a valid attack technique (unlike skip bombing, which is modeled in the game and which was regularly used during WW2).

Even if its not doable in terms of modeling damage from a ricochet it would still be a great visual enhancement which is more what i was leaning towords.

I thought ricochet are already in the game? Might be a mod, but since I have seen ricochet in IL-2 it's definitely possible.

Also as far as I know the tanks damage model might not be the most detailed but there are different armor values for the front, back, sides and top.

Very nice effect.

Anyone use ENBseries? Actually there is a converter to add dx9 effect to dx8 games (i.e. GTA), but (i think) need to be correctely configured to work in IL2.

I think they have to put that in a "must see" section to put that in a patch
