Are you maybe using the latest official Version? Because it is just very hard to handle a Spit over 17.000 feet with the latest Beta...

Continu0 Spit I !!! that one doesn't overheat , but lacks level speed, in climb it is very good.

Nice post Lolsav.

Your right the Spit 1 is the best, no joke, but still it suffers overheating, just not as ridiculously easy as the others. The dh5-20 is also a much better than the 100oct and rotol. You can actually stand the Spit 1 on it's tail and climb at 90mph/near 3.5 thousand ft a minute with 60% rad. Still, the RAF planes are woefully slow currently, overheating issues aside.

The way I see it the RAF only viable strategy currently is to take the spit 1, stand it on it's tail to 20,000 and then dive down on unaware 109s. Put it into a vertical climb with fine pitch and gain as much altitude as you can, then come down for another pass on him. Works on repka dogfight server for a few passes until the 109 starts outclimbing you.

It's obvious from blue side as well, when I am a 109 on ATAG the only spit that can stand a chance is the Mk1.

Also, hurricane is not worth flying at moment as it can't even come close to Spitfire turning.

lmao!!! I can almost see you working those levers.

Nice post Lolsav, you've summed everything up perfectly, and I'm glad you included the G.50, as its a special breed and really nice to fly if you have the knowledge. I heard someone calling it the devils plane, but its far from it really.

I think there are people that just want to hit 'I' and be launched into orbit without having to mess with anything else, however with the G.50 after take-off you need to trim the rudder and ailerons because is has a tendency to drop a wing. (can't remember which side).

Once I'm out over the channel and the plane is configured, I can go and make a cup of tea and when I get back, its still chugging along the way I left it and pretty quickly at 400kmph.

Its a sturdy plane too, I've managed to get it back to France many times as a flying wreck! Once I was being chased by a Spit & Hurricane after ripping up the field at Littlestone, I flew alittle too close to the radar tower, and tore half of the wing off!
I re trimmed it and got it flying level again, all the way back home, half of the way a chasing Spitfire wasted his ammo trying to take me out .

Of-course when the enemy see a G.50 performing an airshow over Hawkinge, you can tell they are thinking "Juicy Target!", until they see how she can really move!

This should be a sticky. It's quick, informative, and RIGHT on the point!

G.50 in the right hands can defend itself against anything... problem is it just cant shoot anything down.

+1 @Slipstream

A few weeks back I went up against Lolsav low over Manston -- he in a G50, me in a Spit 1. I figured he'd be easy meat.....I figured WRONG! LOL

I was so exasperated. I had every advantage, yet he wouldn't stay put long enough for me to get a firing solution on him. Eventually I lost him against the terrain and he was gone. To my mind, he was the winner of that encounter.

by the way:

the g50 is air cooled, so there is no water temperature, its the cylinder head temperature (thats why you can select cylinders for the gauge)

i also flew the g50 a few times, its not a bad airplane, but the warmup time really is too long for my taste

Thanks for the replys there guys, but i dont really understand why there is the statement of the lack of speed. I mean, comparing with other spits it doesnt has lack of speed. It really depends on what and where you are comparing.

On deck i dont really know, i only go for deck if im going home. At 17 or 20 thousand feet he goes to 250 mph easily, and that means 400kms. It matches the 109. If, by any chance, you happen to be diving a bit on a enemy your gonna achieve much more than 250.. 300 mph its more probable and it isnt hard. And 300 mph = 500kms... so i dont think it lacks speed.

Here´s a tip to keep energey = dont pull up too hard if you have a 109 on your toes, your gonna lose speed and the recovery for E it takes more time than a 109, thats for sure.
