Even the existing builders are not interested in filling out the maps in order to save frame rates.

I'm interested in having the SOW series for the far more advanced maps, fm, dm, etc. There the modders will be given the proper tools to create more immersive additions on the SOW engine. Any more developer additions to the IL-2 series will be counter productive to combat flight simming.
I hope your SOW expectations are fulfilled along with mine. I think we're all hoping for a good success for Oleg and a great Combat flight sim for ourselves.

There is still alot of interest in Il2 as it is at AAA site and Hyperlobby.

i

I hope so too. As far as terrain goes I was expecting something like what we've seen in the BOP screenshots. The developers indicated SOW will be even better, and I have no reason to doubt it.
Yes there is alot of interest in the IL2 mod sites and people are very up on what they see the mods creating. Some posters even suggesting that Oleg will have trouble competing. They are fastly underestimating what we are going to see in the SOW series. I suggest it won't be long before these mod sites will become as busy as similiar EAW and CFS mod sites after the release of SOW.

Talking

Was IL-2 for console wath delay SOW, but im not upset with, this will call a new generation to the simulators, SOW is waiting a new "Challeger" (CFS 5), IL-2 still being the best, so why 1C start SOW now? 1C now is like "Rock Star", they are "Rich and famous" and dont want do nothing! LOL!

Why they cant sell to us a FM revision? This is a precious, only they can do.

I am wait so time SOW, i am forgeting SOW... only when CFS 5 win IL-2...

Cool

Hello Guys,

IMHO, it may not be useful to flood Oleg and his team with such questions, requests, etc.

We have plenty of paid add-ons as well as freeware add-ons to play with IL-2 1946, for years. New skins, campaigns, missions, etc. roll out every week. There is a huge choice and I know that I will never play all of the stuff I installed, because it would take me decades. There are some aircraft which I never tried to fly, or which I never encountered as AI, although I know they are there. There are maps I never used yet, such as the Kiev map. So with such a huge choice and plenty of stuff on my plate, in the kitchen and in the fridge for years, I am quite happy.

I will just patiently play, build campaigns and try new things with the game, and be happy when the final 4.09m is released, and even more so when SOW is available. Until then, I trust that developers are very busy and I suggest they can concentrate on what they do.

Cheers,

Vince

Hey guys, this is just a thought (rhetorical as it may be) but instead of another paid addon for a sim that is no longer being professionally worked on, if part of the idea behind the paid addon is to financially help Oleg, why not just donate the price of the addon to 1C to help speed along the development of BOB?

Well, as regards AAA maps, I like what they are doing, but nothing ever seems to get past the beta stage. The only finalised maps are reskins of current maps. There's a Malta map that's been beta for, like, months. The Slot is still beta as well.

Also, if you weren't there from the beginning, it's the devil's own job to figure out what you have to download before you can download before you can download the (beta) file you might want. I think a lot of the initial excitement is dying from the mod scene, as there are relatively few finished projects, and there's no easy entry point for newcomers.

Mmmmm..... do peoples at AAA start to realise that developping new maps with all that it need takes a looooooooong time????

.... Something known since years (since third parties developped new maps... starting with Ian Boys....)

Beta, Alpha, Gamma, Theta...

What difference does it make. I've always viewed beta as a software that is pretty well finished, except the author was reluctant to call it finished. Why, because it might fracture his ego or he might be chastised for announcing a finished product. LOL

Seriously, I've seen software in beta for years.

I suggest not to be picking on anyone at AAA. They are giving you a lot more than any of us could have ever expected and of excellent quality as well.

I luv it beta or zheta....

Not so, The Slot is full release as are several others including the Malta and Italy Africa Greece and campaigns are well underway for them. Reskins are plentiful, as you said but very well done.

I do agree it is tough to find stuff if you are new there, it is tough even if you have been there a long time but there are many finished projects and there is an easy entry point for new users, just gotta look for it.

Still looking forward to SOW/BOB though.
