Thanks Mate BTW: Just over a week ago was the first time I attempted Mottling and like You I avoided in the past beacause it looked to daunting BUT with the right Brushes and a little trial and error you will get there. I use Gimp[because its Free  ] and for Mottle effect I used Brushes: A-3 Dirty Spot & A-3 Crackled with Scale set to 5.66 [change as desired] then add Gaussian Blur [set to 5.0] then Adjust the Layer Opacity to how you want.You can also use Animal Prints Brushes for bolder Mottling with Gaussian Blur applied.
