Only if you believe that contradictory things must be false.

In western philosophy and science we believe things must be either one way or the other. Its called the law of exclusive middle. Its the basis of the European way of thinking, you cannot both be something and not be that thing at the same time.

Eastern philosophy does not take the same narrow view. In Zen the contradictory or paradoxical is not seen as false. Contradictory things are seen as providing the most information.
