Take the Eagle Dynamics mind set, it will be available for download when its ready, dont ask when that is, its done when its done.
Agreed 100%

What you just described is known as beta testing in the software world.. Minus the square one comment, which is just your opinion.

Which is true of many software companies..

Where they found it silly to spend a lot of time and effort explaining the results of a beta patch..

In that the full intent of a beta patch is to release it knowing in advance 'some' aspects are unfinished, un-optimized, or flat out broken

But the purpose (hope) is by releasing a beta patch they can obtain feedback from the community as to 'other' aspects of the program.

Which is what they do with a final release patch, but don't do, on purpose, with a beta patch.

The whole purpose of putting out a beta patch is to 'see' if it works..

If not..

Find and fix what is broken..

wash rinse repeat

Until they can find no more errors

And even after all that there is no guarantee (ie be 'certain')

But they do this so they can be as 'certain' as they can be when they release the 'official' patch.

The only real mistake 1C makes in all this is when they assume the users of beta patches understand what beta patch means. In that based on the responses in this thread and others that is clearly not the case!

We also know what an Alpha build is...which is what got boxed up and put on the shelves pretending to be retail only to get the attitude later "Sorry...we needed your money"

It ain't my kitchen.
It ain't my pot.
It ain't my job.
It's our "stew".

I don't mean anything ugly by that above...
I'd just like to have a downloadable Steam Patch for this sim.

Like others....I'm tired of Stewing,
Stirring and the like.

later....

Man you should put your specs in your sig, maybe one of us here can help you to start enjoying the game, while waiting for other improvement. It is really such a great great flight sim, even now... and just wait, its gonna be sick!

No need for that...the sim runs pretty smooth on my rig except for the ground micro stutter. Myself being on offline player, am waiting for all the other bug fixes that affect the single player experience. (IE: Working Radio commands...etc etc.)

I am mostly off-line as-well right now, been having a blast with it. I am well aware of the problems with the game, but am having an enjoyable 1/2 hour each day... I was forced down to a field, and came to rest near a farm house with a thatched roof and a windmill that was spinning around. Only saying that there is a tremendous amount of enjoyment to be had right NOW.

I have been having some sporatic fun as well. I recently have been messing around with the dynamic campaign generator that someone created. It has it's moments and once the game is patched up I hope someone explores this further. I don't have too much time for the FMB so I have to use what I can find.

I do appreciate your enthusiasm though! Mind if I ask if you are flying single missions, downloaded ones, or campaign?

And with that I see that I need to update my statment to the following..

The only real mistake 1C makes in all this is when they assume the users of alpha/beta patches understand what alpha/beta patch means. In that based on the responses in this thread and others that is clearly not the case!
