you are correct larry69, 253 Squadron at Turnhouse on August 8th. The squadron moved south to Kenley, only links i have is here http://www.bbm.org.uk/Starr.htm, down side is i cant find any pictures of the squadron or aircraft he flew just the aircraft number, when im next down in kent ill have a look in the raf museum see if theres more thank you for your reply.

much help salmo i can always change the serial number
 might not be the same but close enough the lw pilot that shot him down was under the command of garland and was transferred to another unit for shooting him while he parachuted thanks for your help
