This is going to get lost in this thread mate. I'd suggest making a new topic (unless I've completely missed it).

Ah.. were you talking to be Phil or furbs?

Because based on the previous page it looked like you quoted me, but I see that furbs responded instead

I meant you Aces. But I think Furbs responded because he made the topic I was suggesting towards.

Well the hotfix worked for me I had an hour straight over land and buildings lag and crash free even with shadows on , trees and SSao on (offline) . GTX 570 is da bomb ! This Sim is only going to get better from here , coupled by diminished whining, sniveling and lip quivering ..

Has anyone with an nvidia gtx 570 or 580 with 3 gigs noticed an improvement in the particle effects with the new fix, that is, the massive drop in fps when landing (dust) and when firing cannons (smoke/tracers)? Just curious. Good work, and looks like solid progress.

I have a GTX 580 w 3 Gigs DDR5 VRAM. I have no noticeable change in FPS when landing or firing tracers. If I am flying in or very close to clouds w/ mirrors enabled, I get a big drop. But nowhere else that I have noticed.

Clouds are not working as intended, I dont think that has changed since the release of the Alpha patch as stated in the patch notes. Where I can I turn them off.

What about explosions/fire/smoke? Do they cause slow downs for you?

You can turn clouds off in your difficulty settings or through mission settings (QMs only).
As for MP, the final decision rests with the serversettings. if the server has clouds enabled, they will be rendered on your end.

So, do we almost have a functional simulator that I should spend money on?

A very large explosion, such as the one when the airstrip is being hit early in the Black Death track, will choke me out for sure. Other ancillary explosions do not have a great effect at all.
Fire and smoke do not have a noticeable effect on my rig.
I believe you can disable clouds in one of the options screens before a QM; in the Mission Builder it is a rather obscure setting, but it is there.

hmm.... something here is not adding up.... One week they say the patch is almost ready and they have had no crashes for weeks... now they say thanks for the crash logs as they have BEEN having crashes they cannot fix... ??? What is it ? No crashes or crashes ??

Total graphic engine rewrite of 200+meg ? Lucky there is currently no competition for this genre' .
