Doing this in the conf.ini helps a lot in my case;
DepthBits =64
from the original 8 to 64
If you have problems landing with the Spitfire MK Ia and the MK IIa this is due to the Beta patch. The dev. team did fiddle with the speed control settings. Also due to this the plane cannot slow down once on the ground.

What does that do exactly

The original is 24, maybe you made a mistake tweaking the file, the original values looks like this :

DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8

The maximum Depth is 32 but 8 bits are left for the Stencil buffer so it is 24.

So, is this tweak useless?

Yep, I tried in past set the Depth buffer to 32, killing the Stencil buffer to 0, but I saw no difference in performance or graphics so my guess is that change those values have no effect because they are there as placeholders.

Bug when joining MP servers is terrible - I can see the flags but cant select one, or cant see them at all. This happens about 80% of the time for me when joining MP servers - (in this case ATAG)

After a couple of days of fiddling & using,I may go back to what I had before patch ...maybe even do an entirely fresh install.Here are my niggling problems some of which undoubtedly others have had as well:
1.) My onscreen plane customizer no longer works.When I change cammo or markings generally nothing happens,however in flight I do have the "new" plane.
2.) Initially inflight ib cockpit,exterior parts of my plane appear white.Hitting exterior view I have cammo'd plane.Hitting interior view again ,I now look out on cammo'd/marked aircraft.
3.) Lots of wierd things happening in various cockpits , already noted in detail by others in this thread.
4.) No real increase in FPS...at least not enough to deal with the problems this patch seems to have caused.
I do have a serious question : I saved both Stem & 1cSoftclub folders before patch.Would it be better at this stage to simply use these to overlay what I have or do a fresh reinstall...or for that matter simply delete the new patched "Parts" folder & slap in the old one in its place?What for the Official Steam Patch & continue to grumble under my breath...?
(Or should I place this post in technical issues?)

Damage decals seem much reduced, I'm not seeing any individual bullet holes or trails of smoke or oil from motors. Also, debris is sparse.
