Foo'bar may not have intentionally caused the stir he did, but why dredge up a topic that is within a week of the date (minus a year) to the date he posted? In other words why bump a May 4th, 2011 post on April 27 , 2012 - especially when the current patch is imminant? The last patch was October 2011. Why not bump that patch/topic? How far down the forum list did he have to go to get the post he did?
To me it's not about the people who downloaded the patch by accident. I agree a second or two looking at the date and the already numerous replys to a post (that had it been current to April 27th, 2012) would not have garnered as many replies as it already had. Logically there's no reason to believe this was a current release of a new patch. It's the juxtaposition of the two dates (4/27/12 - 5/4/11) combined with patch fever, (and let's be honest it's also the antagonistic character the forum has taken) that causes me suspicion. For someone to have been involved with CoD for as long as he has, I find it incredulous that he'd not know the atmosphere regarding this game. I wish him well, and hope he will be back. Hopefully we've all learned something. |

How could he predict that some people would be so stupid as to download an old patch without reading his post or any others? He did not deserve a ban, no malice, no wrongdoing. There are plenty of others I would have banned a long time ago, and many of them are the ones who downloaded and whined about the bumping of the patch thread. Quote:

I am saying you are in favour of dispensing mob justice, just because the dumb mob got burnt. By accident and their own stupidity. Quote:

Since you are calling into question the judgment of anyone who doubts that foobar is guilty before proven innocent, it might also be pertinent to describe the standards by which you tell when someone is deluding themselves. Last edited by irR4tiOn4L; 04-29-2012 at 02:11 AM. |

I think you're taking this just a wee bit too seriously. This isn't a court of law. There's no such thing as "guilty until proven innocent" on the internet. Somebody apparently installed that patch and wrecked their game and reported the post, moderators decided it was trolling or otherwise inappropriate for the forum. End of story.

Sometimes you guys forget that this forum is a war zone, it always was since the days of Forgotten Battles.
There trolls here all the time trying to trolling the community and in the opposite side the moderators trying get ride off of them, with specially intensity this days when CLOD is in a delicate state. You should be aware of this if you don't want get hit by a lost bullet. I guess that Foobar just acted without thinking the consequences, but the moderators are bound to take actions to fix the mess. I think that a better idea was resolve it with a infraction, but this debate is useless now. Anyway ... Foobar belong to this community, he will be welcomed when this get solved and we´ll see his contributions to IL-2 again, because he is a good and appreciated member of the IL-2 community. That´s the difference between ban a troll and ban good member. |

Personal responsibility!!, their was so much wrong with that thread that should have thrown up red flags...i mean MEGAUPLOAD was a download link....COME ON PEOPLE.... i know what happened and i fell for it for about 5 seconds that is cuz we all wanted a patch in fact some of us wanted a patch really bad and so for some of us we SAW what we wanted, but what we perceived, was not necessarily what we got... just read moderators post above mine, definitely some sanction is necessary, whether its a life long ban in my opinion was heavy handed...however im sure alot of people were angry and reported the post out of spite, especially those who "damaged" their install... And finally a good big laugh on this all, that not only was I so... I do not understand this whole tantrum, and why we had to ban Foobar. I do not think he wants to fool us. We could possibly vote. Sorry my poor english. ~S~ |
